Sacred Hollow

The Sacred Hollow is a consecrated ground located in the mountains around the Vale of Hermonides. It was laid atop a great crypt and was designed as a cap to seal away the horrors beneath.
The Hollow consists of a square plain a mile wide and deep, with the rock rising above it on all sides. A prominent statue of a heroic adventuring party can be seen at its center. At the edges of the plain, in the four cardinal directions, there are caves. The plain is permanently covered in snow eight feet deep.
The central statue centerpiece depicts a male human paladin, labeled as Tornril Brightblade. Lower on the statue are a pair of halflings, Xec and Wevi Tinderhollow, with three swords between the two of them. A dwarf with a massive hammer stands behind and to the left of the paladin, proudly proclaimed as Fordrek Banderheim the Third. On the other side is a priestess, named as Leanne Brightblade. Last but not least is an elf in a robe, looking shy but part of the party and holding up a staff. Her identifying label is The Last Elf Sage, Seneca Whitestag.
The surrounding caves hold smaller statues dedicated to single or paired adventurers. The northern cave has a statue of the Brightblades. They look cozy together, holding an arm around each other in a way that suggests they were married. Both bear the sunburst symbol of Lune, a Conarian goddess of light. The eastern cave holds a statue of the dwarf. It's less bright there, but feels solid, dependable. Dwarven runes in the room tell the story of the dwarf's bravery and blunt honesty. He wasn't always the smartest, but you could always trust him. The western cave contains statues of the halfling brothers, with one looking like he's sneaking up on the other. The southern cave holds an empty pedestal.
Hidden under the magically persistent and nigh-indestructible snow that covers the plain are a set of warded and locked iron gates that block passage to the crypt below.

History

The Sacred Hollow was created after the defeat and magical imprisonment of a demon king whose cathedral fortress used to stand here. The crypt below is what remains of that fortress, and its halls remain infested by the eternally reviving undead and monstrous minions that used to serve him. The demon king himself is still locked away at the bottom of the crypt. May he remain there eternally.
