He was conducting his rounds that evening as he normally would, pondering the events of the day and the odds which led to him now being the owner of this new ring. Something unusual which he took note of was that he would get shocked every time he touched a piece of metal, but there was no reasonable explanation for why this was happening. He was pulled from his thoughts when he heard a loud crash from the basement. Now was not the time to ponder static electricity, something was up.

Personal history
Thomas Jones was born in 1988 and raised in London, England. His father was the curator at one of the many art museums in the city and his mother was an artist herself. So naturally, growing up Thomas acquired an in-depth knowledge of art history. Throughout his school years he received a mixed reception at his knowledge of art. Some of the other children were very impressed and thought it was amazing that he knew so much. But for each one of those children there was another who thought it was the strangest thing and would bully and berate poor Thomas for knowing things they claimed he would never use later in life. And unfortunately with moderates there also come extremes.
The school Thomas attended would occasionally take trips to the local museums, one of which was the art museum at which Thomas’s father was the curator. Thomas always enjoyed these trips because he got to see his father at work doing things he loved. But a small group of children made the decision that Thomas was just too happy.
Late one evening the next week, the group of children made their way to the museum and snuck inside to set it aflame in the dead of the night. The children all got away to their houses, but they were unaware that somebody else was in the museum. Thomas’s mother was inside the museum that night to plant a surprise gift for her and her husband’s upcoming wedding anniversary. She did not make it out of the building and her charred remains were found by the fire department later that night.
Thomas and his father were both devastated by the loss of his mother and the museum as well. Thomas then decided he would get payback on those kids as they all made fun of him for the misfortune they brought upon him and his father. They had no idea but Thomas vowed to avenge his mother and the museum.
Throughout the next few years, he took his time and would track the culprits down individually until they were on some empty street in the dead of the night. Thomas would then ambush each of them and beat them until they confessed their misdeeds. After ten years, Thomas now at the age of 24, he had collected the confessions of all of them and turned them in to local law enforcement. Seeing Thomas delve into a deep hole of wrath and vengeance, his father began saving up money to give his son a better life than what was left. Shortly after Thomas had the culprits finally imprisoned for their crimes, his father gave him the saved up money and plane ticket. He had a job waiting for him on the other side of the Whole Continent in Dustria City, Canada, as a night guard at their Art Museum. Thomas did not want to accept but he understood his father’s reasoning for sending him off.
When he arrived in Dustria City, Thomas got to work immediately keeping an ever vigilant watch on the museum in the city. He did his job well and in 2015, after approximately 4 years of diligent work, he was promoted to position of head of security in the museum. Another year passed of dedicated work of watching over the museum and Thomas received a notice from his employer that he had been selected at random to attend a special tour of Gemstone Industries to commemorate the release of a new line of rings.
He was one of seven individuals invited on this tour and all were chosen at random. He was highly impressed at the competency of security at the Gemstone facilities and at the end of the tour he was gifted with a ring with a piece of topaz in the face. He went back to work that night and an alarm was tripped in the basement.
When he got to the basement to investigate what was happening, he was met by two robbers who were very proud of themselves. They declared they were the Cambio twins, Owen and Oswald. Thomas then was engaged in a fight with the two but something was not right, sparks of electricity seemed to fly from his baton as he made contact with the bats the robbers were using. He quickly decommissioned one of them and the other had to be beaten into submission. Both were sent to the hospital the next morning and Thomas took a few days off to figure out what had happened. Through some experimentation he found that he could create and control electricity.
When he returned to work he was informed by his employer that one of the robbers he stopped was now in a coma and the other escaped in the night. Thomas continued his job as usual then, adding the basement to his night routine. A couple of months passed without any issues and then there was a mass break-in one night. A group of people all armed with various weapons came into the museum. And they were accompanied by Owen Cambio and another man by the name of Ilyushina. They explained that they had come to get revenge for Oswald. The entire group attacked Thomas and by moving tactically through the museum he was able to barely survive the encounter and fight off his attackers. The lead two vanished at some point in the night.
He awoke in the hospital the next day and was visited by a man named Maurice Williams who claimed to be with the police. He explained to Thomas that his powers were derived from the ring he received from Gemstone Industries. Maurice also had a ring which gave him powers and was working to build a team to investigate people with these special rings from Gemstone. He offered Thomas a job as part of the team and Thomas accepted on the condition that they would investigate Timothy Ilyushina and Owen Cambio. Maurice accepted the condition and that was the beginning of Thomas’s job with the 17th Precinct of the DCPD.
