This rain was odd that day. It wasn't part of the weather forecast at all but it was coming down like a waterfall everywhere I went. I wasn't thrown off by it in the least but I did think it odd. Especially when I broke my personal record for fastest time in the lap pool in the afternoon. But the moment that I knew something was definitely wrong was that night at the bar with Adam. He accidentally knocked his drink over and it fell off the counter. I instinctively reached out to grab it but I missed and the glass shattered against the floor. But then I looked closer and saw that the water didn't spill. In fact, it was hovering in air, right where my hand was reaching towards too.

Personal history
Born in 1982, Annie Denn was born to a bit of a different family. Unlike the other children she grew up around, Annie had two mothers. Her birth was possible thanks to an anonymous sperm donor. Luckily for Annie, Dustria City is considered the pinnacle of acceptance and equality within the modern world. Most children did not bat an eye, a few on occasion would make a strange joke, but one child in particular was completely stunned by the occurrence. Stunned in the sense that it was the coolest concept in the world to him. His name was Adam.
After a later discussion, it turned out that Adam had a single dad because his mother had passed away shortly after giving birth, so the idea of having two moms sounded even better than having one to him. The two children took a shine to one another after that day. They grew up as best friends all the way until the end of high school, when Annie decided to join the police academy.
She parted ways with Adam for the time being, even though they still found ways to hang out together. In the academy she soared above her peers, handling every task and class with ease. She continued this trend through the next four years and made friends along the way, such as Remy Lefevre and Carol Dixon. After she graduated from the academy, she was assigned to join the SWAT team at the 17th Precinct, recruited by Elijah Patterson. In the year 2015 she had finally worked through the ranks and became the head officer for SWAT forces in her district.
To celebrate, she met up with Adam and the two had a night on the town, which became one of the most memorable nights for both individuals. Partially because it was that same night that Adam confessed his romantic feelings for Annie. Though it was no shock to her, Adam had always been bad at hiding his actual feelings. She admitted to him that she felt the same way and the two have been a couple ever since.
In 2016, Annie was selected at random along with six other citizens in Dustria City to attend a special tour of Gemstone Industries to commemorate some new technology they intended to implement in their new line of rings. At the end of the tour, she was gifted with a ring that had a circular piece of aquamarine in the face. Later that night there was a storm and she met up with Adam at a local bar to wait it out. While there, Adam dropped his water in the middle of a conversation and Annie reached out to grab it. The glass fell and shattered but Adam noticed that the water itself was still suspended in air, and when Annie retracted her hand, it fell as normal. They went to Adam’s apartment afterwards and attempted to make sense of the situation. After attempting for hours they decided the best thing would be to ask somebody more experienced for an idea. So Annie brought up the matter to Chief Richard Briggs the next day at work and after some experimenting, the two came up with the conclusion that she could control water now and that it had something to do with her ring from Gemstone. Which she coincidentally was unable to remove. She also informed the Chief that there were six other people on the tour who received rings at the end and that they should try to find these people in case they also have powers now. This suggestion and research led to the discovery of Maurice Williams and Elizabeth Walters.
