Ursagammu

Pronunciation: ur-sa-GOM-mu

Map Index: H4

Location: Northwest Centakus

Geography: Ursagammu forms a great peninsula that juts northwestward from the rest of Centakus and separates the southern part of the Gulf of Kishar from the Great Western Sea. Most of the human population lives along the western coast of the peninsula due to its more hospitable climate and safer environment. The west coast is filled with a diverse abundance of small villages and towns. The coastal towns subsist by fishing while those further inland they grow crops. Relations between these settlements are generally good and they often band together for common defense.

The eastern coast is a far different environment. The harsh drought-stricken landscape presents major challenges growing sufficient food making these settlements reliant on fishing. However, an even greater menace is the ever looming threat of savage attacks by barbaric Turoch raiders, riding forth from the evil lands of Brok’talon, The Broken Lands and Hoth N’dorgor in the east. The Turoch, riding swift black horses, always arrive suddenly with little warning. To counter this threat, the towns in the east all possess sturdy defensive walls. Each settlement governs itself, as Ursagammu lacks any kind of centralized authority. The southern two-thirds of the land, filled with rugged mountains, remains abandoned by humans due to the lurking menace of monstrous aberrations.

Primary Population: Kishari
Secondary Population: None
Minor Population: Movori

Climate: The climate varies significantly depending upon geographic location. Positioned just north of the equator, all of Ursagammu experiences unrelenting heat year-round, however, rainfall patterns fluctuate. The east and the mountainous regions, still under the warped climatic influence of the Great Cataclysm, endure arid conditions year-round, while the western coastal area experience distinct wet and dry seasons. These areas, support vibrant tropical savannas in uplands with patches of tall tropical forests in low lying areas near streams.

Wildlife: Ursagammu boasts diverse wildlife. The western coastal area provides habitat for creatures adapted to the tropical savanna, such as cheetahs, elephants, and an array of exotic birds. In the arid eastern coastal areas, hardy species like tortoises, camouflaged reptiles, and resilient desert predators roam the sparse landscape.

Humanoids: The land is populated by humans of mostly Kisharan descent. The land suffers from incursions by the barbaric Turoch who enter Ursagammu for brief raids, plundering the land as they ride.

Monsters: The forsaken rugged mountainous terrains harbor enigmatic and perilous creatures, monstrous beings that dwell in the depths, and fearsome elusive predators that haunt the shadows.

History: The cataclysm wreaked ruinous havoc on Ursagammu, submerging two-thirds of the land beneath the sea. Coastal areas were repeatedly ravaged by colossal tsunamis, eradicating coastal settlements, and triggering widespread devastation. Catastrophic tremors shattered most manmade structures, leaving the land in ruins. Chaos storms, corrupting all in their wake, further plunged Ursagammu into disarray.

Today: Presently, the land of Ursagammu finds itself in a state of slow recuperation, with the corrupting taint of the chaos storms slowly fading from the land. While the western lands have mostly recovered, the coastal lands in the east continue to suffer from the evil taint.
