Location: West of Aorlan and Beorlan
Description: The Great Western Sea sprawls expansively to the west of Centakus, Beorlan, and the great island of Skaderak, dominating the region with its immense size and depth. Characterized by its towering waves, which crash with thunderous resonance against the wild uncivilized coastline, this sea is renowned for its sheer magnitude and wild beauty. The vast western stretches of this sea have never been explored and little is known about this area. The expanse of water appears endless, with scarce islands dotting its periphery beyond the shallower coastal waters. This body of water remains the deepest on Raios with depths of over 3,000 feet common.
Primary Population: None
Secondary Population: None
Minor Population: None
Water Characteristics: This saline body of water, while cold in the north, warms considerably as one sails southward towards the tropics, where it remains warm year-round.
Geography and Geology: This great ocean has few islands and no known continents within it.
Climate and Weather Patterns: Despite its size, the Great Western Sea boasts relatively calm weather, sparing sailors from the wrath of violent storms. However, the northern reaches can bring the sight of treacherous icebergs during the spring and early summer months, posing a significant navigational hazard to this area.
Marine Life: Great schools of fish swim through this great sea while many birds live along the western shores. Tales also abound of colossal sea serpents and other monstrous creatures lurking near the shores of Arandar and Ursagammu.
Cultural & Historical Significance: The western shores have few inhabitants and the Great Western Sea rarely sees any travelers other than in the Ursagammu area.
