Clatterby

Clatterby is rickety little village known for its tinkerers, scrap artisans, and rain-slick cobblestone streets. The air hums faintly with old static, and there’s always some mechanical rattle or hiss coming from behind half-broken shutters. Remnants of old automata factories have either been left to rot or repurposed for the town's other needs, though some clever artificers have been studying the remains (perhaps in the hopes of reviving the project).

Defences

Homes and other buildings have been reinforced with metal bars and heavy locks to keep out the things that go bump in the night.

Infrastructure

Much of the existing infrastructure for the town was repurposed or reused from the town's old factory days. Streets are maintained in place to take advantage of the self-illuminating lamps that are spread along them. Old factories have been repurposed into major locations (when safety allows) such as the Sunspot Inn and manage to utilize the old mechanics to keep the buildings operational. Fog catchers have been installed around town to provide easy access to clean water when the fog rolls in, with the water stored in a ramshackle watertower.

Points of interest

The Clankpot

This odd building was clearly constructed for shorter races such as Gnomes and Goblins resulting in taller folks needing to crouch to enter. On entering, the building is often full of 'short folk' and serves as something of a tavern and something of a guild for scrappers and tinkers. The problem is that the residents aren't fond of 'talluns' and will bully Humans, dwarves, and other taller races out of the building.

The Sunspot

Built in the remains of one of the old factories and powered by repurposed factory mechanisms, this Inn and Tavern is a common resting place for locals and travelers alike. The old gas-lamp at the entrance serves as a beacon to all who need to find the place.

Abandoned Factories

Clatterby has one of the highest concentrations of old automata factories along Brassfounder's Street. Some have been repurposed into community buildings or apartments. Others still lie in a state of disrepair waiting for artificers to explore and uncover their lingering mysteries. Of those that haven't been repurposed, many are quite dangerous with some rumored to be haunted.
