Chapter Three - Session 15
General Summary
The EMP is a fun idea, but will it actually work? The party decides the only way to know is to test it out in the field. With some friendly direction from the Clankpot Goblins, the group head off to test out their new toy on a band of rogue automata. When they get there, they learn the device is a success, but the dangers of these constructs cannot be underestimated, especially in groups.
Rewards Granted
Renown - Clankpot Goblins
With this much scrap in hand (and a fair amount of it in good condition) the Clankpot Goblins are re-thinking their hasty judgement against the party's tall-folk. While they won't be risking their lives for the group anytime soon, they may at least be allowed in the bar.
Disabled Automata - Sentry Class
This scarecrow-esque automata still has an intact core. With some time and repairs it could be returned to functionality.
Disabled Automata - Shepherd Class
This dog-like automata still has an intact core. While it's pretty badly damaged, a few repairs and some time could return it to functionality.
Broken Automata - Wireweaver Class
This spider-like automata is fried, but its body is in pretty decent condition. Perhaps if the core were replaced it could be revived? Or perhaps the body could be repurposed for some other use?
Automta Scrap
Bits and pieces of Automata. Metallic limbs, wires, hydraulics, and rudimentary circuitry. None of it is useful as-is, but skilled technicians could make use of the parts for alternate purposes.
Missions/Quests Completed
Radiant Quest - Rogue Automata
A group of Automata has been spotted out in the fields and forests off Brassfounder's Street. They seem to be operating on instinctual orders and have been deemed potentially hazardous to residents and travelers. They could be shut-down and reconfigured, or their parts could be harvested for other purposes. The Clankpot Goblins in particular will pay pretty handsomely for good quality Automata scrap.
Character(s) interacted with
Clankpot Foreman - Ruby Division
This perfectly averaged sized blue-green goblin wears a distinct helmet painted in red with symbols resembling bugs and mountains. He runs a small contingent of other goblins that share similar red markings on their uniforms.
Notes
GM Notes
Dwell's player was out for this session, so the party took an opportunity to try out the EMP. As a GM, this really helped me hammer out the rules of the EMP, Vehicle combat, and working with constructs that have interesting abilities to help keep this sort of combat interesting.
While it wasn't what I had originally planned for the next session, it was a lot of fun and I want to extend a thank-you to my players for letting me really play around with mechanics in real-time.
