Geodum

They are hulking humanoid forms of stone. They have long arms and huge rocky fists that hang down, and shorter legs. They have virtually no neck with their heads low upon the top of their body.

They do not reproduce in any way, as they were not born, they were made. They were first constructed in experiments in the Second Age, in an attempt to make a foot soldier in the war against the Gola. These experiments ended in failure, because they could never control these creatures at all. Eventually the project was shut down and the Geodums were left to fend for themselves. Now there are an estimated few hundred remaining in the entire world. It is thought that they could potentially live for thousands of years due to their physiological make up.

Today, Geodums are found the world over, mostly in ancient ruins, where they take up defensive positions protecting the sites as though it is their mandate or mission.

They do not need to eat or drink. Instead they merely stand in one place for long periods of time until it detects someone encroaching upon its territory.

They are highly volatile and quick to anger. They will attack anyone who attempts to enter the ruins they have taken to defending. No one is really entirely sure why they've taken to defending such places. They were never programmed to do so. Their original mandate was to fight the Gola. This is part of the behaviour that the creators in the Second Age were unable to figure out. It is thought that some process or means they used to create them might have come from the Alchemists and that is why they've taken to defending these ruins, but no one can be sure, because all of the research that was used to create them was destroyed.

They are strictly solitary creatures with no interest in interacting with anyone or anything, much less others of their own kind.

They were originally constructed to be foot soldiers in the war against the Gola. However the experiments that created them ended in failure when the creators found it was impossible to control them. It was almost as though they were following some other mandate or programming other than what the creators were attempting to do.

Their face is devoid of almost any real characteristics other than large hollow holes where there should be eyes. They do not even have a mouth.

They are found mostly in ancient ruins in Almahna, Highwind, and Atlantea.

They appear to be mindless drones, or at least that is how they behave, as that was what they were created to do. However they appear to follow some other mandate or programming, not what the creators programmed them to do, and in so doing, they have taken to defending and protecting ancient ruins sites all over the world. Attempts have been made to gain control over them, but all such attempts have ended in failure. If anyone dares try to approach these ruins, they will attack on sight. Take extreme caution when heading into ancient ruins.
