Woodlum

Unlike Geodum, Woodlum wasn't created by anyone at all. These creatures simply came into being on their own in the Mystia surge-laden area, the Wild region in Olympus. They seem to take on the role of protector of the jungle, and have been a large part of the reason that poachers' attempts to enter the area in order to poach Dinozaurs has thus far been a complete failure. These creatures should be avoided at all costs. Even if you are doing nothing to harm the creatures of the jungle, they attack on sight.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Woodlums are a hulking humanoid figure constructed of vines and wood bark. They have two heavily muscled arms and two thick legs, and are able to unleash an attack of vines from their arms. They have no head as far as anyone can tell in the traditional sense. Instead there appears to be an orb of glowing green energy in the centre of its being.

Genetics and Reproduction

They do not reproduce at all. Instead they seem to come into being as needed from the Mystia Surge in the Wild Region.

Ecology and Habitats

They only exist in the jungles of the Wild region of Olympus, which they defend fiercely. It is best to steer clear of them as much as possible. They will attack on sight.

Dietary Needs and Habits

These creatures do not appear to be alive in the traditional sense, in that they do not appear to need to eat or sleep. They simply stand guard over the jungle. It is thought by some that they are somehow an extension of the jungle itself, like its immune system, attacking anyone or anything it perceives as intruders or anyone who does not belong.

Behaviour

They are highly aggressive and will attack on sight. When they are not attacking, they simply stand in one spot, as though rooted to the ground. When they see someone who 'does not belong', they are relentless in their attacks and will not stop until the 'threat' as they perceive it is neutralized. Some scholars describe their behaviour as though they are the immune system of the jungle itself, attacking anyone or anything it perceives as 'intruders'.

Additional Information

Social Structure

They are solitary creatures for the most part, but they will band together to attack a common enemy.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Some Fey got it into their heads some years ago to try and use Woodlums to guard their cities. This, as you would expect, ended in catastrophic failure, as the creatures ended up attacking everyone in the city. Cherry City has since made it a law to never approach the Woodlums, for their own sake.

Facial characteristics

They do not appear to have a face in the traditional sense. At least there is no visible eyes or nose or mouth at all. It doesn't even appear to have a head. Instead there is only a glowing orb of green energy in the centre of its torso, and that is all.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Woodlums only exist in one place currently, the The Wild region of Olympus. Thankfully they do not appear to exist anywhere else. Yet.

Average Intelligence

They appear to present a sort of single brain cell sort of intelligence, as in hardly any at all. They are single-mindedly driven to do one thing and only one thing, to protect the jungle and all of the creatures within. If anyone who it perceives as 'not belonging' dares to enter the jungle, they will attack on sight. Some scholars believe that they are the result of nature protecting itself from a common enemy: us.
