Alloministry
The nominal government of the Iolar people, the Alloministry is a titanic bureaucratic institution that keeps the fast-turning gears of their technological civilization in motion. While it is a pale shadow of the overwhelming malaise of the Imperial Adeptus Administratum, the rapid change that comes with a society built on progress presents unique challenges. Between the erratic influence of The Sovereign Fleet, the constant economic tension between the Fabricator Enclaves, and the pervasive beliefs of the Church, the game of politics and popular administration is as chaotic and deadly as ever. On Madrisa Prime, these effects are acute and for the millions of clerks, law enforcement officials, and other political functionaries every day is a struggle against logistical odds so ludicrous it is truly a marvel that it functions at all.
The Alloministry is broken up in to five departments, each of which maintains its own stable of lesser institutions and governing principles. As expected for an organization of this scale, conflicts of jurisdiction and personality are common. Depending on the departments and individuals involved, these disagreements can be extremely bloody and involve economic and social collateral besides that leaves no shortage of woes for the common Iolar citizen.
The Department of Public Order
The most well known department of the Alloministry, the Department of Public Order is responsible for maintaining law and order on Madrisa Prime. It oversees local law enforcement agencies and coordinates with the Enclaves and other parties to ensure the nominal safety of Madrisa Prime's citizens. Heiromats in particular enforce the law on a day-to-day basis, acting as the more violent end of the few checks the Alloministry can place against the Fabricator Enclaves and the terrestrial concerns of Captains. The efforts of the Heiromats ensure there is a steady stream of criminal activity awaiting judgement from the Lexicounts, the formal officiators of jurisprudence and the administrative face of the department's activities. The Department of Industry
Tasked with overseeing the development and regulation of new technologies, corporate liasons the world over despise the notoriously even-tempered and stolid bureaucrats of this ironically named department. Agents from this department work closely with the Fabricator Enclaves and academic institutions to ensure legal application of intelletual property and impose the few but severe sanctions on the development and distribution of new technologies. Despite a reputation for utter dullness, most of the representatives in the Department of Industry are exceptionally canny individuals who frequently have serious bones to pick with their corporate counterparts. The Department of Commerce
Monitoring and managing the titanic planetary economy of Madrisa Prime is the primary mission of the Department of Commerce. Through trade regulation and strict market policies, the brokers seek to prevent serious financial upheaval and enforce terrestrial tariffs and taxes. Of all departments it relies most heavily on artificial intelligence to assist with data processing. However, like many government institutions throughout human history, it is forever behind the curve on technological advancements and even the assistance of the Department of Industry can do little to counteract the evolving landscape of questionably legal to outright criminal behavior conducted by the many financial swindlers and leverage analysts working across Madrisa Prime. The Department of External Affairs
This esoteric and underfunded department handles relations with other worlds and civilizations, managing diplomatic missions and interstellar trade agreements. It is deliberately hobbled by the Captains of the The Sovereign Fleet who despise any attempts to interfere with their activities. Few among the esteemed Fleet possess a diplomat's grace, however, and recent developments in nearby space have granted this department a small measure of power out of necessity. Auditors from this department do a poor job contesting Digo control of spaceborne trade and despite the tremendous wealth under their purview, the department generates the least revenue as a government institution. The Department of Culture
An ominously named government office with an even more ominous mandate, the Department of Culture is a trite cover for a government surveillance program meant to rival that alleged to be operated by Emeter, but with the specific aim of preserving the Iolar cultural identity. Its existence is a cause for serious political division and accusations abound of its misconduct with respect to the Church. Operatives in this deparment often call upon the resources of others in connection with vaguely defined "threats to Iolar hegemony." Common paranoia centers around the use of sleeper agents and slave-wired cyberbeasts at all level of society who clandestinely monitor the populace. Given its public record of funding this seems unlikely but the unsettling notion that the government may pull unexpected levers of influence remains a popular point of discussion for counter-cultural political movements and crazed family members throughout Iolar space.
