South Brea is the largest Kingdom on M'Shaal which stands entirely on natural or "chosen" ground. Not only is it the largest cohesive kingdom on that ground but happens to be some of the most fertile and biodiverse in the world as well. South Brea is the southern region of the continent of Brea, home of The World Spire and the majority of sentient and non-sentient life on M'Shaal.South Brea is made up of four major provinces: Ayenin , Zemania, Xamdwezi, and Kaimavia ia. Each province has unique qualities both geographically and culturally. The history of South Brean politics is relatively young as it was only 200 years ago the four provinces united to form the Kingdom. Before unification, the provinces sometimes operated as a loose confederacy only uniting when collectively threatened, leaving room in "peacetime" for skirmishes and wars to be fought amongst the four old kingdoms and their nobility.
The generations-old power struggle between Ayenin and Kaimavia provinces erupted into a full-scale civil war drawing the entire kingdom into a bloody and prolonged conflict now known as The Old War. Until the conclusion of The Old War 50 years ago, the Citadel of Vauxforte was the centrally located political and spiritual center of South Brea.
United in Strife, Together in Peace
"Chosen Ground" is any ground that has been formed through natural means of geological mechanics and processes. There has always been a struggle between the sentient races of M'shaal against the very limited area in which they can spread freely and easily. During "The Age of Geomancers" large swaths of habitable land were conjured and raised from the depths of the oceans, the Geomancers based every iteration of their conjuring on the model of the Brean Continent.
