The World Spire

The mast of the world, Ingrid's Harpoon, the apex monolith, and the spire of the world. This geographic feature has many names across the ages and across the globe throughout all cultures. The World Spire can be seen, given the right conditions, from most places in the northern hemisphere. It reaches out beyond the atmosphere and its base spans an area of a continent. At the point of the summit the moon known as "The Eye of the World" is in geosynchronous orbit with the spire.
The World Spire is surrounded by an aura of enigma and mystique, and it is at the center of countless religions, mythologies, and belief systems throughout the M'Shaal. Its origins are a subject of endless debate among scholars and priests. Some claim that it was the work of the gods themselves, a divine creation meant to connect the mortal realm with the heavens. Others insist it is the last vestige of a long-lost civilization, a monument to their unfathomable power and knowledge.
The nearest traversable land to the base of the World Spire is Ursandur The region is native to the people and is commonly referred to as "Ice Bears". The Ursan defend their borders with an absolute policy of attack on the sight of any outsider. It is believed that the Ursan have a singular capital city within the basest depths of The World Spire.
The World Spire's presence evokes a sense of awe and reverence, a constant reminder that in this land of magic and myth, there are still untold secrets waiting to be discovered among the swirling mysteries that surround this colossal mountain.
