Post Camp Reading Challenge Aug 2025

Inspiring Readings

I've been slowly reading through articles this week and figured I should make note of them. These are my favorites from some of the judges' short lists that were posted in Discord. (Thank you to the judges for putting together the lists - such delicious selections! Thank you to the article creators for creating such inspiring articles!)       Of these the one that really wowed me is "The Sowing of the Last Light". The back and forth of the church position vs the rebellion was amazing! Though, all the articles were spectacular.

Worldbuilding Goals

  • Commission my art major daughter for more art (if she will take on the subjects I request). I need new art and to replace some of the old stuff.
  • Push for more storytelling in my articles again. My favorites from above were the stories - the ones I couldn't stop reading! I'm not sure why I stepped away from the story side of articles, but I think it's crucial for a good urban fantasy setting article.
  • Work on organizing my world better—behind the scenes stuff: tagging articles better, tag lists, tagging images, tag what needs new art, etc.
  • Create a world primer to introduce people to the world and write up directions for navigation. (Not everyone is a World Anvil veteran who understands what a codex is or that there's a pop out world index.)
  • Cull some of the old articles that don't really fit anymore. Not everything has to be kept visible forever. I may create an author only category/folder that I stuff the rejected articles into for inspiration purposes. (Like a good author, I don't usually delete things but save tidbits to be reused later.)
  • Work in Progress

I had many worldbuilding ideas I didn't end up working into articles for camp - they just didn't seem to fit. Sounds like a November World Ember project?
