It's beautiful in its own way isn't it really? Watching nature reclaim what once belonged to it. Slowly taking back the Earth through peaceful acts of destruction...
History
Thousands of years ago, ancient humans destroyed the planet Earth through their careless actions. They built huge cities that destroyed nature and what little was left behind they turned into farms and factories. No part of the planet was left untouched. But now, The Earthen Ecological Society is trying to change that. Through careful planning (and lots of rules) they are allowing nature to reclaim what once belonged to it, and in doing so, hopefully save the Earth from falling into a ruin it cannot return from.Method
Primary Aims
The Earthen Ecological Society initially proposed re-wilding as a way to prevent the total destruction of the Earth. However, they soon realised that it had a secondary purpose. The re-introduction of plants and animals that had been driven to the brink of extinction by ancient humans, allowed for humans to begin (closely monitored) farming and agriculture; something that had been impossible for hundreds of years. Due to the high levels of monitoring placed on this industry, non lab grown food is still an expensive luxury in human society but is hoped to become more financially accessible as time goes on.Animals
One of the biggest aims of this project was to reintroduce animals back into the wild. This has been incredibly challenging due to the lack of animals left on Earth, but with the support of as large team of scientists, The Earthen Ecological Society has managed to succesfully reintroduce a few hundred species of birds, insects, fish and small mammals. This is nowhere near the scale of what the animal population of Earth once was, but it is better than nothing.Plants
Reintroducing plants has been significantly easier as less of them were completely destroyed. For the most part, this is just a waiting game as the pre-existing plants spread and take over the ruins and destruction left by humans.Outcomes
Re-wilding has been practiced for the last 500 years, and in that time it has made a drastic impact on returning Earth to something close to how it once was. Whole cities have been reclaimed with plants and animals finding their home in the crumbling rubble. Slowly, as each year passes, more and more of the Earth belongs to nature once again.Table of Contents

A horrifying yet topical article. Very poignant and on the nose indeed for how our species behaves. I do like that. I remain hopeful this will not become an accurate future prediction, I want to believe we can do better, however....it is hard to imagine and believe sometimes. Well written!
Thank you!
