Summer Camp 2025
Summer Camp, my favorite WA event, is around the corner! Woot! It's time to prep and figure out plans...
Needed time away from this book. I think I'm ready to tackle it again.
Co-leading House Meles
leading the Self Care Mafia
GoT Organizer stuff (graphics, website, etc.)
running for co-Night Monarch
The Nonogawa River is the source of most farming, but also flooding, and seasonal transportation. The Ryuuizumi (Dragon Spring) is the start of the river. Many animals gather and live along the river. Fields along it's bank are the best spot for hunting boar and deer.
Mt Yaritake - the mountain that hosts Tsukaji Temple, the only temple in Nonogawa.
Cherry Blossom Festival (first weekend in April) - a tradition that feeds the soul and reminds resisdents of the hope in new beginnings.
College satellite from Okayama - what does it offer?
local beliefs that sustain peace among the populace (Japan's - "Do whatever you want as long as you don't disturb others," philosophy)
Any Yokai that are dangerous (and feed on the locals) or helpful (maybe even with harvest or education)? Does Ebisu the kami of fishing and luck visit?
Tourism - best attractions that bring in $ for the town
Characters
favorite foods
times when they had to go with out - were these BIG events in Japan?
The League
New member feasts
Is there a price or benefit to eating food in the Spirit Realm?
Magic and Technology
fed by Ki Energy
ki batteries? (others acting as a battery and Date Hoji's batteries from book 2)
Primer article for Liminal Chronicles (book series and world)
update the main character profiles to be like the "secret" dossiers? I like those better but they are harder to update since they've been statblocks.
what magic abilities do they have (if any)
Magic system tweaks? (What has changed since I documented it?)
Reorganize secrets - more newbie friendly
Umeji Tatsuya: utilizes his mafia past, his family's shrine keeper heritage, and is setting down roots in Nonogawa.
Cultures
The @tengu - started out as ruffians, maybe they need to be fleshed out more. There's very little on them.
Yokai - needs more.
Are there other cultures/ethnicities that I need?
Mages vs Ki Users?
Campus groups on Kyoto Jidai Arcane University?
Taiko drum groups in Nonogawa River Valley
Magical Medical group? (New and upcoming as things used to just be passed down in families?)
Greater Kami banding together for strength and solidarity?
Alt Guardian group?
Pro technology yokai / tech magic mixing groups
Tokyo metropolitan area yokai / human cultural exchange for greater understanding
How past shaped the yokai - legends! We need more legends
how the past shaped the magic communities - they rose and fell and rose again. People will be flocking to them now that magic is public again.
various magic branches start to "re-guild"
the souhei fighting monks start up again?
fall and re-rise of belief in yokai. (good AND bad) - how affect temples and shrines?
My front page is pretty organized.
But I could use a primer.
Take vssCollab off the front pageUmeji - mobster to protector -> He would inspire others to leave their pasts behind. (incident?)
folk tale collectors would go wild with the new "rumors" of the guardians and would pester Umeji and Ohno.
The folklore societies in nonogawa and elsewhere need pages
Soujou-bou hand over to next in line?
Ethnicities/ Cultures
rise and fall and rise again of magic - what would this be called and how affect humans and yokai?
What would the events of Legend be called? Which ones would history mark?
What is the aftermath on both sides of Japan's culture? Can they work toward unity?
ex-yakuza trying to find a way to live that's doable, despite the strong laws holding them down. Groups forming to help each other out and start over and stop the younger generation from being forced down the same road they were. How does Umeji fit into this?
Large Cities
overrun with tourists? how would this affect the League's work?
becomes an alternate hub/hideout for yokai--they'll need an organization!
start to grow again
Brotherhood for Peace
(seekrit)
Yokai
(seekrit)
fandoms form and the yokai fan gatherings grow (like the events in Kyoto)

CAMP PREP
I probably will work on Game of Tomes articles too. Let's get some ideas down so I'm not scrambling each day.THEME: NOURISHMENT
We’re starting with… food! Ok, not just food. In fact, this theme is way more general than it seems! For example, technology is “nourished” by an energy source, plants feed on sunlight, and it’s often said that philosophy and spirituality “nourish the soul”. Basically, anything that gets “consumed” for a positive effect is nourishment, physically or metaphorically. Yes, this theme goes pretty deep—you could almost say it’s food for thought!
Think about ways the theme of Nourishment affects your world. Do people generally have what they need? What happens when they don’t?
Nonogawa
Changes for LC (Updates - Non Camp)
(Ideas continued from last year's camp)THEME: Roots
Roots are foundations, the beginnings of things. And that's worldbuilding gold! The past is gone, but its effects are felt throughout history. And while the past is messy and full of events that shouldn’t repeat, it’s also the reason we are where we are—standing on the shoulders of giants! So, for this theme, we’re going back to the roots of your world and exploring where your characters and cultures come from. You don’t need to write a detailed history, but thinking about the origins of things will make the present time of your world all the more real and interesting.
Characters
Assignment 1: Culture focus
Look at the cultures and areas you’ll focus on for Summer Camp, and think about how their past shaped them.Assignment 2: Homepage Review
Go to your world’s homepage and imagine you’re a new reader discovering the setting for the first time. What should you change to make the experience more engaging? But I could use a primer.
Take vssCollab off the front page
THEME: Metamorphosis
While our roots are ever present, the world slowly transforms and takes on new forms. And so should your world, if you want it to feel a living dynamic place! A metamorphosis isn’t a mere change, it’s natural evolution, or transformation with intent. It’s not about what changes, but about why it changes—and why some people don’t want this transformation to happen! Knowing the roots of your setting will be really helpful here, as you need to know where you’re coming from to understand what will change.
Characters
Assignment 1: Transformations / Adaptations
What transformations and adaptations have the people in your world gone through? What changes are going on right now… and who is trying to stop them?THEME: Tomorrow
What does the future hold for your world’s people? And what do they think the future looks like? People’s perception of their future is usually heavily influenced by the current state of the world, so you’ll need an understanding of the present in order to write about the future! The future also rarely ends up being what we expect it to be—so to make this more realistic, make sure what people expect from the future is different from your actual plans!

Assignment 1: Plan Ahead
Think about current events that will impact the future. Who is working to create a specific kind of future?Work in Progress

Nnie's Camp Chill Guidelines
- Remember the prompts are suggestions, not requirements.
- Write what you're passionate about, leave what you aren't.
- Relax when you feel tired.
- Fight off any pesky brain-squitos trying to make you doubt your work.
- Don't abandon your non-summercamp goals! Write that article you're itching to write, even if it doesn't fit any prompts.
