Second demon war

If the first demon war was a siege then the second was a full out melee. While the work on the portal gates around the realms (but especially in the Oracle Grove) had weakened the locks and safeguards around Levis from the other realms, it was the attempt at an exodus of Pilgrims that broke the protections on Levis and made the gaze of the realms aware of Levis again.   When the Pilgrims found the demon lands of Infernus and specifically the Brusbann Pass, the demons on the other side realised they had a way out from the encroaching iron-storm and many coalesced under the leadership of Lady Hublesstone the 3rd.   Lady Hublesstone ripped open the portal in the pass through to Levis, leading her people back towards Levis, sending word out to other holds within Infernus as the first wave of her army landed in the plains outside of Solaris. The tear had sent the army relievingly offpath, directly aimed at the one place with enough technology and magic to withstand them. Even if the massive grass wall stood not a moment before the might of the flame and rock that jutted from the ground around the breach. Witnesses claim that it felt like the unholy fusion between Infertanis and the unspoken god.
With trackers and civilians heading back to Attum-Mess, it was up to nearby Hunters and those with combat-mage training to hold the line against the massive army. With most of the demon spellcasters spent for the moment, and Lady Hublesstone deigning to not dirty her hands, it was up to the desperate and hungry imps and iron demons to lead the charge against the bulwark of the disunified force. Though many demons were slain through creative use of spells and fists and misappropriated weapons, without the formation training of an army, or the complex spell storage of a wizen-ed's staff, the few who had stood to fight were slain, brutally and thoroughly taught of the might of the demonic forces that the siege never really taught Levis.   It was only the fast moving response of the Solaris Royal Court in conjunction with the Br1n Network that held any hope of stopping the army, who razed several of the smaller towns on the way towards the interior of the kingdom, in an effort to claim the castle and the lands around as their own.   The Kingdom and the Demon Army met three times along the march, each side finding reinforcements, some from unlikely sources. The first clash saw the mages of Solaris, a contingent from the Academy of Natare and a small unit of creature-kin from Brambleberry coming north to hit the demon army from behind. The survivors of that first clash from the forces of Levis were forced to retreat into the trees, leaving the army to regain its strength - soon reinforced by its own forces from beyond the rift.   The second wave was from the Empire of Nocturne, the very moisture in the air used to decimate the invaders, even as ungodly beings came from the forest, gifts from the Maiden of Eyes, and crafted to defend the forests against the stone being wielded against the forests and dark places. Even now, stories shy away from the things felled and seen with that wave, and the demons might have been driven away or insane, if not for the last minute reinforcements of even more demons, including several new Brutes.   The third wave was the thing that changed the outcome. What started as yet another clash - more mages from both the Academy and from around Solaris, and a line of witches reaching into the very well of possibility in a last ditch effort to turn the tide, mixed with ships weaponry from Oceanus, hauled across the very lands of Levis atop Electrumpede and other usually fast moving transports, and manned by Trolls and usually seafaring foliad. And that might have been a slaughter.
But then the demons came.

The demons of the siege of nightmares, and their children had settled into Levis, and this wanton destruction posed a danger to the lives these people had developed. Even the raiders of the Mangroves regions had their own rules and pacts with the people of the area - and noone got too hurt unless lines were crossed. And that was more a personal thing than any form of real destruction. Not anymore.   So when Lady Hublesstone, arms alight in demonic runes, atop her massive mount was confronted by a line of demons - pirates and raiders, civilians and second generation demons, it shocked her to her core. It shocked her even more to see the different children of her kind, laced with the metals and minerals of Levis and physically changed by this place that she was seeking to make hospitable to her army. Demons are led by their emotions after all, and so she sounded her horn, signalling a retreat as her mind was abuzz.   One could not call Princess Delhia unintelligent though, and she quickly made her way to the frontlines, moving into talks with Lady Hublesstone about seceding land to her for her and her people, on the condition that Lady Hublesstone let the rift between realms ease shut, and that the demons be left to the whims of the portal system like everyone else. Seeing no other option than more bloodshed, the war ended, the new demon home forming in the southwest of Solaris, to join the other small settlements growing around Levis as a whole.

I love that it was seeing the second generation demons that really was the catalyst for the end of the war.
