Green Abbey

The primary home of the Rinenian Church and their clergy, the Rinenian Gardeners. Over a hundred years ago members of the Church of First Worship who favored the Primis Rinen petitioned for their own sect, sperate from the main organization and with their own internal structure that would operate independently from their parent religion.

Located half a days' walk from Stretto's south gate, this abbey and its' assorted outbuildings provide an attractive alternative to living behind the stifling walls of Stretto where the Rinenian Gardeners can allow their plants to sprawl without the constraints of city regulations or limited space for personal projects.
The abbey occupies a swath of fertile grassland that sits southeast of Stretto, the road to Etude on their westside and the powerful Chorus river on their east. The land was given to the sect after several failed attempts to create more space within the city for their religious practice. Eventually the Governor Prince at the time approved their request for land outside the city walls. Normally a foolish endeavour, the Rinenians paid untrained citizens and members of the Josille to increase their numbers and provide protection while the building itself was being built.

When the original members of the Church of First Worship made the decision to split from the core organization and create their own sect dedicated to Rinen they approached the office of the Governor Prince.

In 4013NC the city officials used the opportunity to expand their reach while also cultivating good-will among the faithful. After significant discourse and debate in regards to the potentially far-reaching repercussions of the agreement, the governor eventually assigned an unoccupied parcel of land between Stretto and the nearby Chorus River that the Rinenian Gardeners could build on. This came with one massive stipulation: once the abbey grounds were established, the abundant produce that would be harvested would be shared with the city to support the metropolitan citizens who already relied heavily on farms and crops grown outside the walls.

Construction on the main structure took nearly a decade to complete and thanks to the many of the people who helped with the effort over the years ended up being welcomed by the Gardeners and retired to the abbey where they lived among the friends and plants they'd worked with for years. This unplanned flood of members resulted in a full dormitory almost immediately which gave little time to rest as they quickly began construction on a second well as well as several buildings outside the abbey walls to store equipment, shelter animals, and house those not tied directly to the church.

Now, the abbey grounds are lush and well tended by the growing number of citizens who prefer rural life to the nearby metropolis. Converts are common and even those who do not worship the Primis as deities tell stories of the peacefulness found among their gardens.
