Gattland
Taking up residence in the high plains of the northeast of Keshloam is Gattland, a state deeply divided over the question of change--social, political, cultural, and otherwise. The northern half of the state, especially the cosmopolitan city-on-the-rise Sernovia, favors embracing and adapting to the changing realities of a modern Gattland. The southern half, however, is all about the old ways, the old gods, the traditions that have made them strong. This mindset is most clear in Gatt, a city that pushes against the crush of time and progress, and also serves as the capital.
These divisions have become more than just ideological disagreements, but now illustrate a fundamental divide in what it means to be Gatt and the role Gattland should take in the world. As such, the state seems to be teetering on the edge of civil war.
The Stolms of Gattland
A Stolm is a semi-autonomous political province within the Republic of Gattland. Each Stolm holds the right to appoint a Seat to the Kronhaus, granting it formal representation in the republic’s governance. While bound to Gattland by law and tradition, Stolms govern themselves internally and vary widely in culture, power, and allegiance.
