The Exploration of Vardura

Tasked with exploring lost Vardura, the Second Echwink Expedition has begun to piece together a narrative of what happened on this continent in the 500 years since issuing the The Decree Against Foreign Discord.   The Varduran Symphony ruled over the continent for hundreds of years, eventually isolating themselves from the rest of the world. Since then, their civilization seemingly ended in a catastrophe that engulfed the entire continent. Literature suggests that this signaled the end of "The Second Movement" with the "Song of Justice."

Structure

Exposition

500 years ago, the Vardurans issued the The Decree Against Foreign Discord barring any contact with outsiders for the duration. In 1110 AC, this document expired. Inspired by his deceased father Walden Echwink, Chaus Echwink now leads Echwink Expeditions and exploration efforts on that mysterious island.

Components

Goals

To discover as much as possible about the lost Vardruan culture and piece together a narrative of what happened to them.

  • Yusuf Kevin-Kevin, insufferable entrepreneur, is currently obsessed with collecting sea shells from The Singing Bay and creating scrimshaw art.
  • Fingol Leadbelly somehow survived the centipedes of the Cult of 1,000 Legs and may have more information.
  • Translating the centipede tome "Book of 1,000 Grudges" may reveal information about Vardura and its relationship with the Cult of 1,000 Legs.
  • Kogos is very mad about the Second Expedition and wishes to stop it.
  • There is a rumor that Walden Echwink was able to secure Gatt funding for the Second Expedition by promising to deliver a weapon for the war that his father Chaus Echwink did not.
  • Interfacing with The Evervoice has revealed much information about historical events.
  • The Vardurans had 8 schools of magic like the rest of the world, but with Chronurgy instead of Enchantment. No record of the latter has been found.
  • A treaty between the native maizegrown and Lord Vine of Swango Swamp pushed the people far east, but allowed them to control the Spooky Water.
