Umpton

Umpton is a Small trading town that sits far north of The Keep and northeast of Denmaerd. It, like Many settlements sits amongst the rocky outcrops of Gand. The town itself is bordered by terrace farms used to maximise their available farming space, it mainly exports grain and flour which are created by the several mills in the area. It is the largest town amongst other northan rural areas and so its market often becomes a trading hub.   The town is owned by Vassidy Whitlow, Who won it in a round of Five-faced Fools, a popular Tavern Game. What was once a barren ghost town she has cultivated into the sprawling town. That's not to say she did so through mundane means but rather by befriending sorcerers and trading in magic runes. Vassidy is the leader of the Barrel Scrapers- a notorious group of smugglers, who specialise in carting around Contraband Items and magic items. The town of Upton happens to be a perfect cover for her illicit activities as it is small enough to be of little interest to the Major Cities but large enough be hold trading power and to be defensible.   Umpton Also has the benefit of being along the Elven Network Trade Route, The scrapers have, in time been able to carve their way through the Rocky Mountain to unearth the Elven tunnels below. From here they were able to access the tracks allowing them to run their own bootleg trains, increasing their ability to trade, at least until the Wreck of the barrel scrapers bootleg train.   Most people who live in Umpton keep a head-down, eyes-low attitude as to not draw attention to themselves. Many of those who live in the town are magically-inclined, or worshippers of Xegruni orother faiths, some are even on the run from the Brotherhood of Tarn. Umpton is not a close-knit town and there is no telling what business your neighbor has been involved with, spreading secrets or asking too many questions is liable to get you snubbed or at a push thrown out of the town.   The town has been lucky so far as to not draw too much attention from the The Royal Guard or the Brotherhood of Tarn and has watchmen stationed all througout the day for signs of any incoming Brotherhood squadrons or nosey members for the trade guild. In the event of an approaching undesirable the town bell located in the market square is rung and everone scatters. Some building even have false walls and other areas to hide in. Recently Vassidy has becomemore and more lax with her low profile. Following the loss of one of the bootleg trains Vassidy is desperate to get the money needed for repairs as it affects her smuggling business. As such she has strarted to trade in power crystals and is preparing a large shipment. On occasion she also permits The Pit Fighters to use the town as one of their stops.   This is where Wylde was taken to recover following the assault on the Worden Homestead .

Infrastructure

has a large terrace farm structure and several mills used in its more legitimised trades. The town also raises a fair amount of workhorses on their stud farm. Inside of the town there are a number of general tailors as well as a blacksmith, a tailor, and an apocathy. Umpton has a route with access to the Elven trade route which theyuse to run their bootleg train on.
