Sol Ignus - The Fire Lord
Sol Ignus is one of the four Dragon Lords of Soliemia. He rules over the region of the Ember Sands, reigning from his volcanic lair of Ember Hall.
Sol Ignus is an ancient being, said to have been born prior to the Dragon-Elf War of the Silver Age. Ancient legends tell that it was during the war that Sol Ignus ascended to become an Archdragon. Though how, and why four Archdragons were created around the same time, is unknown. Some have speculated that Ember Hall once contained a doorway to the Elemental Plane of Fire, which was used during the Dragon-Elf War to empower Sol Ignus, transforming him into an Archdragon. This would go to explain why the four Archdragons of Soliemia, match the elements of the Elemental Planes.
Some other ancient records of the Dragon-Elf War also suggest that Sol Ignus, along with the Archdragon Tempestra, had sided with Tiamat, during the war. But during the final years of the war, the two Archdragons betrayed Tiamat and joined the side of Bahamut, potentially turning the tide in Bahamut’s favour.
Sol Ignus is said to be an aggressive and tempestuous dragon, with a deep and ancient hatred for mortals. Because of his hatred, Sol Ignus rarely receives visitors at Ember Hall, but those who have visited describe hordes or gold and precious jewels which Sol Ignus covets.
Sol Ignus has not been seen outside of his lair for many millennia, and unlike the other Dragon Lords, he rarely delegates his brood to represent him in political matters, instead forcing representatives to visit the Fire Lord within Ember Hall. Sol Ignus seems to have little care for his brood who are said to be fierce, violent and wild, making the Ember Sands the most dangerous region of Soliemia, and Fire Dragons the most feared and mistrusted of all Dragon species.
Appearance
Sol Ignus is a gargantuan quadrupedal drake with a coat of fire coloured scales, draped with a layer of ash. His body is cracked with veins of molten fire, and his massive wings blaze with a neverending flame.
Sol Ignus is rarely said to take on the shape of an elderly yet muscular man with tanned skin and elven features. He is described to have long white hair that flickers with flame and glowing eyes of molten flame. He is also said to dress in robes of fed and gold, over which is a suit of obsidian armour.
