Port Gillrip
Gillrip is a notorious pirate port based on the western coast of the Arheim Sea. Only well established brigands dock there, as any law abiding vessel would be stripped for parts and its crew slaughtered. The port has a nasty reputation, but it is well defended by the Woodgrave Reef so any assailants that might attack them could not get to them all at once.
Demographics
No formal census has ever taken place here.
Government
There is no formal government here, though the pirate lord (who usually kills their predecessor) keeps some semblance of order. Most pirates follow the pirate lord's command not because of respect, but because they know that without this port there would be very few places to resupply.
Defences
Gillrip has always been an almost impenetrable area for any large force to attack, thanks to both its location and the pirate's deep coffers buying advanced technology. Newly constructed cannons have been placed in strategic locations of the port to defend from hostile ships. Large metal chains can also be reeled in from the sea floor to make the entrance to the port impassible. Lastly, it is said that there is a leyline network much like the one in Cirris that generates mist, though this has never been confirmed.
Industry & Trade
It is possible to buy almost anything in the port that could be considered illegal in other places. This makes it a hot spot for assassins and thieves as well as pirates, since they can sell things related to their profession there with no risk of being locked up.
Infrastructure
Stone bridges and docks lined with rubbery wood attached on the sides have been constructed to make the area more durable to attacks from cannon fire.
Assets
The pirates here usually have a large supply of stolen goods and valuables.
Guilds and Factions
Pirates are the only faction here.
History
The port has existed for almost three hundred years, growing from a single wrecked ship on the side of the beach, to the bustling hub of villainy that it is today.
Architecture
Besides its stone base, most of the buildings are constructed of wood. These buildings look shabby in general, as no reputable architect would work here. Something to note is that since many pursuers have wrecked their ships on the craggy reefs while trying to capture a fleeing pirate, some of those ships have simply been hauled up and turned over to form a living space.
Geography
The port rest against the Zetian Mountain Range with no arable land to allow for farming. This forces the Port to stay small and raid for food.
Natural Resources
None.
