Sahuagin Caves

The semi-aquatic cave systems on the Isles of Stone. The upper portion of the caves are underwater 90% of the time, their outer chambers flooded by the tides, which only drain at low tide. The lower areas of the cave are relatively dry due to half a dozen water locks in the area preventing further flooding of the majority of the caverns.

Purpose / Function

It is simply a cave system that has been taken over by sahuagin. Now that adventurers have driven them off, the caves lie dormant.

Alterations

The lowest portion of the caves have been altered to suit the sahuagin's needs. The deepest chamber has had divine runes and symbols etched into it to allow for rituals to take place, and behind it is a semi-unearthed reliquary, which now holds the remains of one of Gurthu Huergh's idols.

History

The caves have been empty for most of their existence with the exception of a few semi-aquatic creatures taking up residence from time to time. This abandonment was temporarily interrupted by a group of sahuagin who tried to dig out an ancient idol buried deep in the Isle of Stone's sediment. They were interrupted by four adventurers helping hazran Fleet Admiral Acoute protect her country's interests.
