Giants

Giants of the Snowy Mountains

Ever since Winter entered the northern mountains, they were cursed with an eternal winter. Winter didn't know why their magic affected these mountains in particular, but it made it harder to build a civilization. They created a race that could withstand the cold of the all year snow and ice. Giants were what they called them. Later on, there would be more variations of giants. Ones who could not handle the sheer cold of the frosted mountains.  

Ethnicities

Frost Giants were the first giants to touch Astnyr thanks to Winter's creation. They had full resistance to the cold and the mountain's freezing temperatures. Wisdom and strength were a part of their lives. After all, what was one without the other, Winter told them. There needed to be strength to protect, and wisdom to think for themselves on a solution. With their immunity to the freezing temperatures, the frost giants did not need as much coverage for warmth. They could have freezing metal on their skin as armor and still survive. It wasn't even uncomfortable to them. When the dwarves arrived after Strection's tyranny began, Winter and the frost dwarves welcomed them with open arms. There were frost giants that decided to live outside of the frosty mountains. Particularly in Hystoria.   There were giants that wished to study more in Knowler's city. A group of frost giants set out not in anger or sorrow, but in wishing for enlightenment and knowledge. They travelled to Hystoria and became scholars. Special interests of research were chosen and life went on with them immune to the cold. However, eventually, giants were born without this necessary immunity to survive the frosty mountains. Instead, they adapted to the more temperate climate of Hystoria and beyond. They had more of a liking to knowledge and wisdom than the frost giants ever did. Knowledge was valued at such a high degree, that there were almost never any of these giants that didn't become scholars. They dubbed these giants Skhal Giants.  

The First Berserker

Once the military order of the Snow Guard was established, the first Berserkers guarded Frosthalla. People knew this woman as Dora Snowhailer. She was the strongest among the recruits with her intellect and sheer physical strength. Soon enough, she became commander of her own squadron within the Snow Guard.. She assists the Guardians in Seaport when needed. This happened with hurricane relief assistance, attacks from hidden mad mages, and efforts to explore the hidden sewer system. Winter was proud of their commander. With Dora in the field, there was nothing that could stop her determination and wisdom.  

Physical Traits

Frost Giants hair could have long, curly or braided white hair. There was also a variation of ice blues that was in their gene pool for hair. However, their eyes and skin stayed the same throughout the Frost Giant clans, even away from the snowy mountains. Their eyes were completely white, and their skin ice blue. Both genders had bushy eyebrows, though only males could grow facial hair. They usually braided facial hair to worship Winter, the ruler of their clans. Ice clung to their skin as ice crystals on their arms, including ice horns on their jaws. These icicles could not melt off, no matter the heat. Frost Giants were a muscular, powerful people, who valued wisdom, but was not afraid to fight for their people.   Skhal Giants had more brownish tones to their skin. Their hair turned from white to light blondes, and their eyes stayed the same. However, the ice that used to cling to the giant's skin melted. This surprised them at first, but as time went on, it became normal for skhal giants not to have anything clinging to their skin. One giant found that this was an adaptive evolution that occurred over time. Giants evolved when they were away from the frozen mountains for a significant amount of time and throughout generations. Evolution became a new topic of research within Hystoria thanks to this occurrence.
