Political Organizing and Writing
Born in Lanpetia in 1240 CE, he grew up in the final days of the Wellspring of Nations. In 1253 CE, when Clement was 13, the Lanpetian Revolution broke out, which he participated in as a messenger for the revolutionaries. His family was well off, due to his father's work as a doctor. Following the revolution, he was sent to university to study history in Pocqui, the capital of the new republic. While there, he was surrounded by republican philosophy, but he grew disillusioned with liberal republicanism, as he saw the realities of capitalism and grew sympathetic to the plight of the workers. He began to engage with the early communist movement at this time, writing for an early Lanpetian communist journal and exchanging letters with other radicals. However, he wrote with increasing frustration of what he saw as "reactionary" impulses in the communist movement. At the time, many communists advocated for a return to an idealized agrarian way of life, which he lambasted as absurd and utopian. He wrote a number of polemics against this trend, as well as several books on the subject. These works became part of a trend within the communist movement away from utopianism. Throughout the 1260s and 70s, he continued to develop his ideas, which became the basis of republican communism. During this time, he became editor for É Solidáteria, a Sorfaitan communist newspaper. In 1279 CE, he and a group of Lanpetian, Sorfaitan, and Kaisan communists formed the Communist International Circles, with the goal of ideological education and organizing communists to form the first republican communist party. In the end, the organization was disbanded after the conviction of thirty-three of its members following the Jiderani Uprisings of 1281-83. Clement escaped, however, and he fled to Coterait, where he continued writing and organizing. In 1294, Clement becomes one of the founding members of the Intercontinental League of Communists, as part of the Coteraitian delegation. For the last decade of his life, Clement corresponded regularly with communists and radicals across Duurn. He continued to work on his last work, a detailed elaboration on his political philosophy.Personal Life
He married his first wife, Solei Gros, in 1275. They had two children, Remy in 1281 and Ballou in 1283. Solei died in 1286 after an extended battle with cancer. In 1288, he remarried to Orsa Saretta, a fellow revolutionary from the Communist International Circles. The two remained together until Robierre's death in 1307, surrounded by family and comrades.Relationships
