NuJani

The NuJani are a people found mainly among the Dreamrealms though it can be said that anyone and everyone within Namdia might have a bit of Jani within their blood or their family tree.

Culture

Common Dress code

A key part of the Jani and NuJani culture is the Quilted Poncho, a precious garment holding many different embroidered emblems and visages that chronicle a person's life, experiences, culture and heritage. The main ideals for the Quilted Poncho come from the Last Born Jani myth in which Babs preserves the stories, tales, and practices of her ancestors by sewing each and every piece into a large quilted Poncho.

Foods & Cuisine

Amongst many of the foods the Jani and NuJani are known for, none are more prescient than the Traveller's Bread, a key, hearty bread that keeps well amongst many different forms of travel and became a staple around the world for it's versatility and ease of baking in big batches. It's work as a sharable food made the ease of sharing Jani culture a breeze, and it's appearance in the culture comes in many forms, for example, dyed bread for funerary rites (as the Jani believe in hosting as much colour as possible to light the way into the next lives).

Funerary and Memorial customs

Upon a Jani's death the Quilted Poncho will be draped over the burial basket for all the mourners to see and remember the dead, and then after the funerary rites have been called, the garment will be cut into several pieces and dispersed amongst the deceased descendents and loved ones to be sewn into their garments.
