Batavia

Batavia is the place where the dnd 2100 will take place in. Imagine an urban jungle, overgrowing with buildings horizontally and vertically. It is a melting pot of all sorts of people from various races and walks of life. Batavia existance stretched 400 years into the past where it started out as a small port before colonialist came onshore and transformed it into a hub of trade and commerce, specifically for spices. In the beginning of the 21st Century, Batavia is no longer under the control of the colonialist and further developed its commercial space and port, as well as fostering the growth of technological industry and innovation. During the ecological fallout of the latter 21st Century, half of Batavia became submerged underneath the rising sea level, requiring the residents to move further inland as well as shifting the port to the then city center of Batavia. The event is known as the Sinking. Now at the cusps of the 22nd Century, Batavia stands as one of the most bustling and stable place to start ones life. A remarkable feat considering that many parts of the World have sunked underwater or rendered into uninhabitable deserts.   The city can be divided into 8 areas: -Harbour: Used to be the city center before the Sinking. Now Cranes nestles beside old sunken landmarks and the old city hall houses the harbour command center, with the dome half cut to allow for better view of the Harbour. -@Inner Ring: Most Orang Batavia would know this place, regardless of their status. It is the true melting pot of Batavia, where one can exchange cultures through the myriads of shops that sells thousands of wares or the conorcupia of food vendors that occupy the narrow street of the Inner Ring. -Sihir

Government

The government tries to uphold democratic values, although in recent times, they are often swayed by outside influences, namely the The Three Families, the Church and Der Technik.

Infrastructure

The Western part of the city is the more technological centric part of Batavia. Many Advanced tech labs and even more bleeding technology can be found here. It has a very industrious, clean-lab feel. That said, the Pepabrikan also have residential areas and they are dominated by sky scrapers and high security complexes. Reserved for those connected to the tech industry.     Kudus is where one can find

Guilds and Factions

The Three Families runs the Technological side of Batavia. Kudus is not really controlled by anyone since the religious group there operate within their own autonomy. However, a omnipresent figure in this part of the city is @the church. As for the East, The Magi guild holds the most control over this part; rich in eons old arcane knowledge.

Tourism

Tourism is hardly popular in 2100 AD, owing to the ecological fallout of the the 21st Century.

Architecture

West: Cyberpunk, neon, skyscrappers, sterile streets, think of SG CBD area. South: Gothic churches, pagodas, Grand Mosque, shrines hundreds of years old. Some roads are stone paved. Buildings are low lying and usually made of decade olds stone or wood. East: The Grand Library, Archives old and new Inner Ring: Bustling Marketplace, tight crowded street, shop houses, food vendors on wheels Harbour: Converted city hall (into docks), cranes, water filtration plant, think of Rathaus meets Landungs (Hamburg) New Bay Biome: The glitziest building, coated in platinum, casinos, etc all under a dome made of the sturdiest carbon infused plexiglass

Geography

Coastal at the North, Mountaineous in the South. Low lying lands in between. It's proximity with the sea provided mild temperature all year round, especially since Batavia lies in the tropic.
