Humans
Elfborn and Orcborn
Beyond parenting Pactborn, Humans can mate with Elves and Orcs producing Elfborn and Orcborn who share traits between their parents. Unlike Elves, Humans do not produce Orc children after mating with an Orc.
The most common descendant of the Forebearers, Humans are generally hardier and more coordinated than the other Ancestries. They are skilled at forming communities and developing complex interpersonal structures. Free of Godswar Directives, humans are the most diverse of all the Ancestries. They were cultivated by the Dragon Tyrants as ideal subjects.
Cultures
Spread across the spheres humans had to survive under either the Curses or the tyranny of the Dragon Tyrants. These isolated societies developed their own cultures. Within generations these cultures diverged and were foreign to each other.
Nexus
That changed with the discovery of Nexus. Over the next few centuries more and more civilizations came in contact with Nexus and became integrated into its expanding trade networks. This has started to change every culture as histories, philosophies, and ideals is traded along with goods. This has set off a series of conflicts that have ranged from the evolutionary to the reactionary.
Settlements
As the cultures developed, so did their settlements. Typically the settlements are defended by outer walls and contain strongholds for defense against ground and flying threats. As Civilization expands and the monstrosities are pushed back, the defenses slacken. However, even on Nexus — free of the dangers of the Godswar remnants — war still shapes construction from the fortified Plantation Manors' and Pathway Metropolises' fortified Castsulae, defensive fortifications are continually integrated.
Strongholds and Baileys
The most common settlement layout common to to most societies after the Grand Rebellion. Created by building a stone structure, they layering earth upon it, building another layer of stone structure and so on until a large hill has been created. Atop the hill a stone fortified mott surrounded by a palisade defends the entryway to the buried stronghold. A village is built at the foot of the hill, surrounded by a larger palisade. Between the palisades is a walled corridor to allow for evacuation through the mott at the top of the hill into the sanctuary. This allows for defense against ground based and flying threats.
Religion
Gods
Humans were the most likely to raise Spirits and Saints to Godhood. As such, humans are the most likely to worship a God or Pantheon of Gods.
Pacts
As humans commonly make Pacts with Spirits they are also the source of the majority of Pactborn.
Saints
Humans are likely to raise remarkable individuals of Spirits to Sainthood.
