Fey
Fey are Gheástr given form, some say. Although poetic, this is incorrect - it would be more accurate to say they are Gheástryn with control over their gheástr. Originating from the Otherworld, their gheástr is not bound up in the physical matter of Asalia, allowing them to manipulate it as they see fit. However, the longer a Fey is away from the Otherworld or a source of ambient gheástr, the harder it becomes for them to maintain control over their own.

Genetics and Reproduction
When the gheástr of multiple fey comes into a specific harmony, it creates a unique resonance. This resonance ripples into the fabric of the Otherworld, manifesting as a sound which becomes the name of the new fey it speaks into existence.

Geographic Origin and Distribution
Most broadly, any creature originating from the Otherworld and animated by gheástr can be considered a Fey. This being their home, it is also where the majority of Fey can be found at any given time, although they can survive indefinitely anywhere in Asalia that maintains a high enough level of ambient gheástr. As far as is currently known, the only locations on the material plane that consistently meets this condition are on the continent of Ðiéithtír, due to its high density of crossing points between realms.

Major Organizations
The Fey are ruled by one of two opposing factions at a time, depending on which half of the year it is. In the warm seasons, spring and summer, the Oak Court presides over all matters of Fey justice, and takes full responsibility for all Fey who leave the Otherworld under their authority; in the cold seasons, autumn and winter, this power passes to the Holly Court.
