Seelie

A fey's true name is the sound made by their gheástr as it resonates with the fabric of the Otherworld. This name is any fey's most closely-guarded secret - even a fraction of it could be used by another to manipulate or control the power and identity of the one it belongs to. As such, it's considered wise to accumulate a collection of other names to use as needed, though preferred methods of acquisition vary between Seelie and Unseelie culture, with Seelie fey tending to craft new names for themselves and only supplementing their collections with names taken from others. Naturally, no examples will be shared here, but it has been said that true Seelie names have a lilting, melodic sound evocative of birdsong and running water.

Seelie fey seek to experience all the best of what their timeless existence has to offer. They value beauty, pleasure, and indulgence above all; a common maxim among the Seelie is "all that is beautiful brings us into harmony with the world." It thus follows that they hold a great appreciation for art, especially music and dance, along with the more sensorial pleasures of fine foods, lush fabrics, and physical intimacy.

The idea of imposing rules on the feelings between people is borderline antithetical to the Seelie way of life. Relationships form freely where attraction and attachment are found, and dissolve without fanfare if the joy they once brought peters out.

Seelie fey align themselves with the Oak Court, adhering to its rulings in the warm months and remaining in the Otherworld during the cold ones to avoid the consequences of violating the harsh policies of the Holly Court.
