Human
Humans are a flexible species, changing to fit the needs of their environment. Because of this, they have become the most prolific and common race in Argeth.
They originated from the Elemental Spirits that worshipped the Founder of Water.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Humans are unique among the Peoples in their large variation in skin colors. Those who live in environments with more intense exposure to the sun will develop darker pigmentations to prevent burning. In contrast, those living in environments with little to no exposure to sunlight lose nearly all pigmentation. There have even been stories of humans who spent so much time underground that their skin has turned translucent.
Of course, half-humans can also inherit the skin pigmentation of their non-human parents.
Humans are already known to be skilled swimmers, but have even been documented as developing webbed feet and hands in coastal communities.
Like Elves, Humans have been known to sometimes grow horns or even tails; however, these never grow beyond little nubs.
Growth Rate & Stages
Humans are often used as the baseline for development, reaching maturity around 18-20 years old. Their lifespan heavily depends on their environment, with an average of 75.
The oldest known human reached 121 years of age before being assassinated.
