Elf

Elves as a species are hard to pin down. They are reluctant to settle in places, often moving around, most of their cultures are nomadic in some way. They are drawn to adventure but generally prefer to solve things nonviolently. They originated from the Elemental Spirits that worshipped Thrae, the Founder of Air.

Their environment's magic subtly transforms Elves after they inhabit it for long enough, sometimes granting them an affinity with certain elements. Genasi are examples of Elves who have been transformed thus.

Genasi

Spending enough time in a single place with potent elemental magic, such as a Fountain, gradually turns a population into what is known as Genasi. These elves take on some of the traits of their elements. Due to the nomadic nature of elves, this shift is very rare.

Wood Elves

Wood Elves carry the magic of primeval forests within themselves. They are known by many other names, including wild elves, green elves, and forest elves. Being more of a cultural subdivision than a true racial one, wood elves generally look the same as other elves, though they may be a bit shorter and more muscular.

Astral Elves

When exposed to the raw magic of a fallen star, a Genasi-esque transformation took place, resulting in a civilization of so-called "Astral Elves". The hue of their skin and hair has become purple and they have gained an affinity for Divination magic.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Elves have pointed ears and lack facial and body hair. They are built tall and lightweight, allowing them to take long strides and travel far.

Their skin tones vary from pink to green, but are on the lighter end and muted, like pastel colors.

Though rare, and most commonly seen in Wood Elves, Elves can develop horns and even tails with tufts of hair at the end. The longer tails resemble those of lions, while the shorter stubs can be compared to deer tails.

Growth Rate & Stages

They mature at about the same rate as Humans until they reach adulthood around 22-24 years, after which their speed of aging slows to about half that of Humans. They generally live to become 130 years old, but can live to be over 180. The oldest known elf was 192 at the time of their death.

Behaviour

Their nomadic nature allows them to travel further while requiring less rest compared to the other Peoples.
