Dragonborn
The Dragonborn are a proud species of draconic humanoids. They can be found all over the world, but tend to form their own communities instead of integrating with other Peoples. Their cultures are heavily based around the worship of the Founders, and as such, most Dragonborn are very religious. All major organized religions in Argeth are led by Dragonborn. They originated from the Life Spirits that worshipped the Founders as a united concept, not raising any above the others. Because of that, instead of taking on aspects of the respective Founder's element, they took on the shared draconic aspects.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Dragonborn skin is covered in soft scales that resemble the scales of reptiles. The color of these scales seems to be related to the elemental energies of that particular Dragonborn, ranging from vibrant primary colors to shimmering metallics.
Their faces are often elongated into snouts, but can be stubby at times, with sharp teeth resembling those of Orcs. Dragonborn also have rather sharp claw-like nails.
While for other races it is a rare sight, Dragonborn always have tails. The lack of a tail is considered a birth defect, though it is seen in some (severely inbred) dynasties.
They may also grow horns, which are often thicker than the antler-like horns of Elves. In very rare cases, the horn-like protrusions continue down the spine like spikes.
Genetics and Reproduction
Dragonborn are similar to Humans in their gestation period, although they are known to produce multiple births more commonly than other races.
Like Elves and Dwarves, they also do not have as many children as the average Human or Orc.
Growth Rate & Stages
Dragonborn mature just slightly slower than Humans, reaching maturity at 20 years old, living to 80-90 years old on average.
The oldest known Dragonborn with a confirmed birth date was 163 years old at the time of their death.
