Vandil de Sade

Vandil de Sade is one of the founders and council members of the High Council of the The Wardens Of Tempest.   Always surrounded by his pet ravens Indira and Fina and his wolf Loki. His weapons of choice are his spear Judgement and his twin blades Alpha and Omega. His snow white mare Eterial carries him into battle. He is able to throw his spear with such force that it pierces through the thickest armor.  

Unique Abilities

  Vandil has exceptional hearing. For example, he is able to hear a warriors heart race when he is nervous and even pick up the quiet rushing sound of someone's blood as clear as the sound of a gentle creek. It is nigh impossible to silently creep up on him.  

History

  Vandil, his brother Raymund de Sade, Hialbjorn der Gebrochene, Orsakar and Asmond abandoned the clan Folkesson after being discontent with the way the clan was lead.   Arriving at Middland to the south he and the others founded their very own mercenary company to make a living the only way they know. By selling their swords to the highest bidder.   Although highly sought after by many lords, they were seldom rewarded appropriate to their services, since mercenaries were seen as dishonorable and untrustworthy due to the fact, that their companies fight for gold. This frustrated them enough that Hialbjorn der Gebrochene decided that, after capturing castle Falkenklamm in the name of their contractor, they will not hand it over to him. The company saw the castle as a well deserved reward, since the company hadn't even been reinforced by the liege lords troops. So they kept it for themselves.   This however caused their contractor to sent a small force under Aaryd v. Eisenstein to lay siege and capture the castle. As the defenders sallied out to destroy the siege engines of the attacker he covered the cavalry's retreat putting fear into the enemies soldiers by slicing through them with his spear. But then the besiegers started one last assault enraged by the destruction of the trebuchets. And no matter how hard the he fought in the end Vandils prowess was not enough to hold back a whole army that had breached the gates. He and the other leaders of the company had to lay down their weapons and capitulate.   Aaryd v. Eisenstein's liege lord orders however saved him and the other exfolkessons from the executioners block. He wanted them to be brought to the capital to stand trial for their insubordination. The prisoner transport was waylaid en route and Von Eisensteins soldiers weakened by the siege were loosing the battle. It took some convincing, but Vendil and the others were let out of the cages they were transported in and given back their weapons to help fend of the attackers. Although most died, Von Eisenstein and the mercenaries survived and the latter decided despite Orsakar's objection to accompany the former to the capital to receive punishment for their actions. Vandil and the others felt deep remorse as they saw the chaos and death they caused by weakening the liege lords forces.   Discovering that the capital was under siege by another band of north men, Vandil lead the attack on the encampment after Orsakar set the horses loose and Raymund de Sade sabotaged the siege engines as well as the food supplies.   The trial comenced the day after the siege was lifted and Aaryd v. Eisenstein put in a good word for Vandil and the others. Arguing that they showed not only remorse about the death they caused to innocent people by weakening the army but also displayed honor by staying and facing punishment even though death would be the most likely sentence for their actions. And in the process not only saving Von Eisensteins life but also countless soldiers and city folk by helping to break the siege. So Vendil and the others were pardoned and drafted into the service of their former contractor.   But a few years after Vandil entered into service of the liege lord and patrolling the city as leader of the guard the north men returned. More numerous and far better organized. As the capital was besieged once again Vandil and the others were not able to hold them off for long, since the north men plundered most villages, continuously robbing traders and the countless battles with the invaders drained resources and man power to such a degree that the capital fell after just a few weeks of being besieged.   As their liege lord died in the final battle Vandil and the others fled the city and decided to return to the then vacant castle Falkenklamm. There they founded the The Wardens Of Tempest and established the High Council as its governing body with Vandil as one of its members. Its first act was to rename their new base of operations Oculum Tempestas.
