Ambush at Aschpass

The archers lead by Damien, a criminal recruited a few years ago, positioned themselves on a hill north of the road the army of Elfs and Akreyans had to pass to harass them with their longbows. The slope of the hill was guarded by a squad of conscripts that had orders to attack the enemy from the west. While Johann Schwabhausen hides in the bushes with his line infantry, ready to jump out and attack the enemy from behind.   Tassilo von Habbingen waited behind a hill south of the road to with a regiment gens d'armes the House von Habbingen are renowned for. He had received orders from the emperor to soften the enemies lines for the conscripts following in his wake.   The tactic was to push the enemy further south to be crushed by the reinforcing heavy infantry lead by Heinrich II. "der Tyrann" himself.  

United Petty Kingdom of Vaenion

Folduin va Vaenyrael marched at the front of the army commanding a regiment of Vaenorian Guard. Next to the guard marched a troop of War Nobles. Behind another regiment of Vaenorian Guard lead by Inestria va Elenion.   Issalia va Elenion rode with her Silver Riders at the rear of the center to protect the rear in case of an attack. A regiment of Akreyans Guild Wardens and Golden Guard were placed on the flanks to hold of potential cavalry charges with their halberds and spears.

The battlefield was the hilly pass of the foothills of the Aschberg, the dormant vulcano near Aschstadt.   The pass mostly consisted of a few trees and a lot of bushes on the meadows and hills of this area.

When Folduin va Vaenyrael army passed between the hills the vanguard was hiding behind, Damien and his archers loosened their arrows into the center of the enemies army, signaling Tassilo von Habbingen to charge and initiate the battle.   Duke Tassilo von Habbingen charged at the back of the trapped army, prompting the Akreyans to quickly reposition and sweep the halberds at the the oncoming enemy, knocking the duke of his horse and killing several of his horsemen. Duke House von Habbingen died in the attempt to fight several of the Guild Wardens. Seeing this the remainder of his riders decided to retreat and regroup.   This made it harder for Duke Johann Schwabhausen to penetrate the rear of the kings army and opted to bog them down until the Holy Emperor arrives. The conscripts on the eastern position moved in to support the duke in this endeavor.   When Heinrich II. "der Tyrann" arrived with his regiments of heavy infantry the petty kings army was completely encircled. Folduin va Vaenyrael decided to retreat when his Vaenorian Vanguard routed due to the iron fist they were crushed with. He first informed the leader of the War Nobles to hold position long enough for the troops in the back to create an opening in the enemy lines to retreat back to Allanar.   The same orders where issued to Inestria va Elenion who desperately tried to hold against the conscripts under the constant barrage of arrow fire. When the petty king was killed in melee battle Inestria va Elenion decided to retreat over a hill in the north, while the Akreyans successfully pushed the line infantry of duke Johann Schwabhausen northwards and thus create a corridor for the others to retreat through. Issalia va Elenion lead her Silver Riders through to secure the retreat with her swift cavalry and prevent the retreating regiments to be picked off one by one.   Damien, in a desperate attempt to kill as many of the enemies as possible ordered his archers to shoot at the Guild Wardens, killing the conscripts holding the Akreyans in place.   When the War Nobles reached the akreyan hoplites they flanked the line infantry under duke Johann Schwabhausen and provided the anvil for the hammer of Issalia va Elenion's charge. The entire unit as well as the duke was killed in that maneuver, enabling the remaining troops to retreat in formation and prepare for a prolonged siege at Allanar.
