Race (▸reɪs◂)
Race is a type of People found on the World of Arcadia and throughout Caditian Space. They are ordered by the attributes of character, habitat, ecology, religion, Maneauic capability, and industrial and social ability. There are five major races in the world; Arcadians, Humans, Dwarves, Elves, and The Kin, with some being further divided into sub-races, like Gnomes and Halflings. All of the world's major states are racially centric and actively exploit the other Peoples that reside within their economic extraction zones. Racial tensions across the world trend high and racial ideology has been the primary cause of most conflicts.
Racial groups are similar races that specifically share the attributes of character, habitat, and Maneauic capability but have different societal structures. Elves have pointed ears and reside mostly in forests, Dwarves are stout and burrow deep within mountains, and The Kin are grey-skinned and prefer highlands, but within those larger categories are distinct varieties that, without their fundamental similarities, could be considered unique races. While Arcadians and Humans have many similar attributes, and could be considered to be part of the same racial group, they are respective enough from one another through their ecology and Maneauic capability to be considered racially distinct.
Sub-races are peoples that share many characteristics with an individual race or racial group, but have a unique relationship with Maneau that sets them apart from their racial kin. Sub-races are also concentrated in small, tight-knit communities isolated from one another over insurmountable distances. They are also generally focused on a singular industry so their prosperity is dependent on their economic ties to the neighboring communities of their racial kin.
There are some other Peoples that exist on Arcadia, or across the wider Caditia, that possess a majority of the necessary racial attributes but lack others so completely that they are considered monstrous instead of racial. Wyrms, centaurs, dryads, and those with diseased minds, such as druids and lycanthropes, are just some examples of the monsters that exist on the fringes and in the shadows.
