Elves (▸ɛlvz◂)

Elves are an Ahdequin racial group native to the many and varied temperate and subtropical holt and forest ranges of the Demastia. They are a magical and zealous people adapted to the tranquil, shaded ranges under the world’s canopies; and have an abstruse connection to their native forest, believing that any sacrifice is justified for its protection, cultivation, and propagation. The Elven Racial Group is physically characterized by pointed ears, delicate features, and svelte physiques; they are innately magical; they are nontheistic, instead venerating their ancestors and the Great Spirits; and they are intrinsically disdainful of the other races of the world. Elves are racially defined by their physical appearance, their ability to control Maneau, their lifespan, the nature of their innate magical ability, and are ordered as Regal Elves, Quince Elves, and Wild Elves.

Regal Elves

Main Article:Regal Elves
Regal (or Imperial) Elves are the tallest elves in the world. They tend to be of fair skin and hair, have little ethnic diversity, and have a low population sparsely spread across the dense forests of the world's temperate latitudes. They have a variant lifespan where females can live for several millennia, while males only live an average of 700 years, and they have an elitist society with stratified gender and social roles. Regal Elves are the least innately magical Elven race, generally presenting magical immunities rather than abilities, but are masters of the ancient and secretive practice of Quickening that allows them to refine Maneau into a physical substance that greatly augments their natural abilities. They revere purity, tradition, and elegance; their societies are organized, expansive, racially hegemonic, and aggressively ideological; and they have long histories of strife and conflict with their racial neighbors.

The only ethnic groups of Regal Elves are the Veyanese, the largest and most prolific, located across the vast forests of the Southern Temperate Latitudes; the Tionestin, the wildest and fewest in number, their remnants still cling to life in the vast, temperate forests of the Thracian Expanse; and the Dacians, the most ideological and expansive, who control the Dacian Empire, spanning the forests surrounding the Imperial Seas across the Northern Temperate Latitudes.

Quince Elves

Main Article:
Quince (or Normal) Elves are average in height, with a wide range of skin and hair colors across various distinct ethnicities. They are thought to be the most populous, inhabiting the temperate and sparsely forested regions of the world. They have a lifespan of 600-900 years and tend to share societal responsibilities equally between their genders. They present an eclectic mix of magical immunities and abilities across their many ethnicities and have middling control of Maneau. They revere nature, harmony, and community; their societies tend to be small, egalitarian, and agrarian; and they are tolerant, often found in ideological and commercial allegiance with their racial neighbors.

The major ethnic groups of Quince Elves are the White, Camean, Wisher, Donna, Wood, and Worsch Elves of the Northern Holts; the Red, Thanis, Rone, Alice, and Harper Elves of the Southern Holts; and the Green, Janice, Faerie, and Sarxa Elves of the Western Holts.

Wild Elves

Main Article:
Wild (or Savage) Elves are the smallest race of Elves, characterized by darker skin and hair, and are isolated into ethnically homogeneous tribes that inhabit remote, dark, and foreboding wildernesses. They are an androgynous race, with lifespans speculated to be similar to their Normal cousins, but little is known about their societal structure. Wild Elves are highly magical, presenting the widest range of immunities and abilities, including an inveterate control over predator animals; they also show an adept ability for Maneauic control through their aptitude in shamanism and druidism, making the exploration and exploitation of their homelands a formidable task. Wild Elves are noble, ferocious, and austere and are rarely found in the company of other races. Little is known about the number, nature, or names of their various ethnicities as their remote isolation has limited extensive contact with the civilized world.

History

Elves are a magical race with one of the longest-known lifespans. They are generally measured and methodical in their processes and position themselves as the keepers of time and nature. All Elves have access to the Elven Long Memory, which has allowed them to create a unified message in support of these efforts and claim jurisdiction over matters of the past, often raising themselves in benevolence and judgment. This exclusive access and interpretation of the Long Memory has long frustrated academic efforts yet it still remains a conventional tool. Dacians are the dominant Elven race, having maintained a continuous and self-imposed authoritative position in Elven affairs that has placed them in near-constant opposition to the Arcadian Empire.
