Ages Wars
The Ages War, (Late Gorga 1134 - Late Regis 1150) also known as the Great Wars or the Ahdequin Wars, was a subsequent series of global conflicts between the three major empires of the Inner Seas, and their coalitions: The Arcadian Empire, The Empire of the Dacians, and the Koran Trade Collective. The major areas of conflict were the Continent of Thrace, the Island of Lexcenia, the Lexan Sea, and the Dallace Holts, with several protracted battles in the various imperial holdings around the Eternal Shore and the vast wildernesses beyond. There were important developments, over the course of the war, in magickal technology, alchemy, and military application, notably by the Arcadian Empire, that contributed to widespread deaths, devastation, and ruin. The Ages Wars saw the decimation of entire populations of Peoples around the globe through wanton and intentional extirpation, wrought immeasurable suffering through famines and disease, and displaced tens of millions of Peoples around the world.
The primary causes of the Ages Wars was the sudden onset of the Second Arcadian Civil War (early Rodara 1131), and the jarring disruption of the Great Arcadian Peace, and a long history of racial and hegemonic animosities primarily between the Arcadian and Dacian nations. Two border disputes between these two empires, in the Horn of Anistonia, and on the Camean Peninsula, both backed by sizeable troop deployments, erupted into armed conflict in the early summer of 1131 after Dacian formations attempted to take advantage of perceived weaknesses in Arcadian defenses fallowing troop reductions. The summer and early fall of 1131 saw other skirmishes erupt around the Lexan Sea as the Dacian Navy attempted to strengthen their positions in their war against the Koran Trade Coalition at the expense of the Arcadian Empire. These engagements resulted in a declaration of war by the Arcadian Empire, and the collapse of the Great Arcadian Peace. The Ages Wars officially began after the opening of hostilities between the Korans and Arcadians following the Koran siege of the Arcadian port of Olan in Southern Lexcenia in early spring of 1134.
The opening of the Ages Wars saw substantial losses by the Arcadian Empire as its capacity to sustain the defense of its imperial holdings weakened under the demands of its internal conflict. Early strikes against the empire focused primarily around the Lexan Sea, and the Island of Lexcenia, but the conflict spread to the Continent of Thrace in late 1137, after the successful battles of Lorn and Jossa on the Camean Peninsula, and the Siege of Willimantic City in the Thracian Expanse, gave the Dacians a firm foothold on the edges of Arcadia's imperial core. The Battle of Bristonia, in the early spring of 1138, was the first major effort by the Korans against the Arcadian Empire, which saw the largest troop deployments, and largest naval engagements of the war to date. The Korans enjoyed early successes, but quickly became mired in protracted engagements as Bristonian Gorillas organized against both empires in the War of Bristonian Independence. The Kora City Pact of 1139 saw hostilities cease between the Korans and Dacians, and unified their efforts against the ailing Arcadian Empire. Dacians captured most of the Thracian Expanse, and improved their position on the Camean Front, after the Korans opened their second and third fronts against the Arcadian mainland in their Ladore and Sydney Bay campaigns. Arcadia remained on their back foot until the resolution of their civil war in the early fall of 1141.
Weakened, divided, and surrounded, The Arcadian Empire, under the veteran leadership of the battle-hardened Empress Aphetara Duras, moved decisively to route the Koran and Dacian armies encroaching deeper into the imperial core. The decisive victory at the Battle of West Plain against the Dacians, and the successes against the Korans at the Siege of Owens, and the destruction of the Koran's Second Fleet during the Siege of Heston, all in the year 1144, saw the direction of the war shift back into Arcadian favor. The Kora City Pact dissolved in 1146 as the result of negotiations between the Korans and the Arcadians following the Koran's devastating defeat at the Battle of the Balen Ball Straight. A coordinated, early spring assault on the Dallace Holt in 1147 forced the taxed and depleted Dacian's to abandon their campaign on the Camean Peninsula, and the brutal and malevolent destruction of the pristine Elven forests of the Dacian Interior forced them to sue for peace.
The Rowan Peace Conference of 1148-1150 saw the belligerent nations of the Arcadians, The Dacians, and the Korans, come together with other nations, kingdoms, and Peoples to conclude the several Treaties of Ahdequin, that not only brought the hostilities of the Ages Wars to a close, but sought to create a New World Order to ensure a lasting and egalitarian peace. To this end, the treaties recognized the new Kingdoms of Bristonia and Camea, defined a common set of rules to regulate trade, academic discourse, and international arrangements, and established an international body to govern and enforce the new regime established by the treaty.
