"Who can use magic in your world... and why? Is there a downside to being able to use magic?"
Spell-binding Question! Curious about Magic in Arc Sagas? What about you?
How do you approach the magical in your setting? Have you defined whether it's a hard or soft magic system? Who uses Magic in your setting? And how?
Editor's Response
Tyrdal is currently running the Campfire Project in Story-Teller's Circle! We're discussing the intricacies of Magic with these hard-hitting questions! This answer is an edited response to a general question, asked of our members.
Magic in Arc Sagas is in its' very nature, contagious. Source, the point of Magical phenomenon and a force of potential, exists in varied states of energetic flow tethered to the Soul. All things are connected to Source but some things are Attuned to Source.
Exposure to Magic may attune a "Caster" to Magic. But, not always- or immediately. It could be that, one comes into contact with a person or Source of Magic, such as a Spell, Magical Item, or Locale, and that begins the process of attuning the potential Caster to a facet of Source. It could be years later, after exposure to other Magical Sources, that it even manifests. All people, all Life, all objects, possess a volume of Source, a Reserve.
A person may even commit Magic their entire Life and never know it. It explains why the baker's goods are always magical, tasty or the Artisan is particularly skilled- everyone has their own personal Magic. The key is resonance and how a person resonates with a facet of Source that causes these changes. There's a component of physical, mental, and emotional factors that can associate someone with a facet of Source while in others, it's a hereditary thing (which plays on "Inheritance" features). Other times, it's accidental.
Via Mechanics, Casters have highly developed Psyche, Spirit, or Poise- though these may not be the only Attributes to conjure Magic. The secret language of Source is deciphered as the Arcane, which is a universal algorithm of names and codes. This is where studied Magic comes into practice. While the Arcana is a practiced principle in Spell-Craft, the language is very personal. What works for one Caster might not work for another. How a Caster manifests their power is up to their mental ability and their force of will. That said, effects of Magic and spell-casting can have deleterious effects on one's own sanity, as they become addicted and warped by their own spell-powers. While this isn't a hard rule, it's common for delusional or deranged Casters to emerge.
In short, yes, with enough exposure to Magic and enough practice in understanding Magic, it is simple for one to develop the skills, language, and gestures needed to communicate with Source, and that communication between the Caster and reality, is the Arcane code of Source. Of course, there are still many mysteries of Magic to explore in Arc Sagas! Other factors, such as Intent, Will, and Timing, all come together to shape this intricate system!

What inspires you to write, despite challenges?
- And what challenges do you face as a Writer? What can you do to challenge yourself as a Writer? Any tips or tricks to share?
- Writing is, decidedly, my purpose. I've always wanted to do this, be this. I challenge myself through the act and process of Writing, as much as possible.
What is it you wish for your Writing to do?
- Do you write for yourself? To entertain or inform? Is it self-expression that drives you? Perhaps a creative imagination? Whatever the case, don't ever stop!
- We need Writers- be it journalists, authors, or designers- we will always need stories. I wish to tell excellent stories people can engage and interact with!

Rock of Eternity
"In the space between seconds, there is a shape. In the pressure of now, a presence. The Rock of Eternity looms, inert but alive. Etched into its surface are each significant moment, crushed into infinitesimal dust beneath. Time circles, bound in helix loops, orbiting memory. What is preserved here lasts forever, but even stone fractures, and through these fissures, something new is woven within the seams. Something shaped in choice and meaning. Ancient, it speaks with the silence of eons; a voice from mountains and endless sky. A pivotal stone emerges from corridors of Time, pressing upon the precipice of conjuration and creation. "
Now and Ever
"Something is shifting in Arc Saga's historical landscape! A World, suspended, rippled in Time, as the Rock of Eternity counts the seconds until tomorrow. The question is not what the Rock of Eternity is. The question is: what will you do with the weight of now? "

Hey Myth-X, so glad you got your tech issues under control! I love the thought you've put into your magic system, and I like that there still seems to be so much room to explore. Also I really like the different classes. It reminds me of the middle school books like Percy Jackson or Harry Potter where you can sort yourself into various houses/cabins. Or DnD obviously lol How do you approach the magical in your setting? Have you defined whether it's a hard or soft magic system? Who uses Magic in your setting? And how? Uhh, I actually haven't written in a setting of mine in a while, simply because I've been trying to branch out and see which other genres I like. But typically for me I do like a somewhat structured magic system with still a little bit of leeway, where I can maybe work in a little loophole. And what challenges do you face as a Writer? What can you do to challenge yourself as a Writer? Any tips or tricks to share? Honestly, being consistent is my biggest challenge as a writer. Doing it everyday or every other day can be difficult because of life or I straight up forget. But two things that have helped me be more consistent is 1) being passionate about whatever story I'm writing and 2) having a small goal that day whether it be write 1,000 words or finish building a character. Do you write for yourself? To entertain or inform? Is it self-expression that drives you? Perhaps a creative imagination? Whatever the case, don't ever stop! I typically write for myself. I enjoy doing it, but at the same time I don't mind sharing it or getting critiqued on certain works. I do want to publish a novel some day, but whatever novel I publish I want it to be a work that has a theme that I am really passionate and something that I really care for. One of the main takeaways from whatever I write is that "You are not alone." someone out there in the world is experiencing exactly what you have gone through/may be going through. And I think that message is always really encouraging to hear!
