Barony of Rouzig

Structure

Rouzig is a large, but sparsely populated region of Kontelezh Kernev, largely centered along the Aon River and the Rade de Brest.

Public Agenda

Rouzig relies on the sheltered waterbody of the Rade de Brest for trade and defense. They tend to have stronger ties to both Kemper and the East, supporting several ducal castles and fortresses, including the impregnable Kastell-Brest. Ships and Windships often take shelter in the harbor, and the regions around it favour stable relations and the fostering of trade routes.   Largely inland, Rouzig is more independent than those it shares the Roadstead with, occassionally aligning with the Fair Counties.

History

The name Rouzig comes from a naturally red-brown shade of fabric commonly used in the region, a mixture of cotton, linen and sheep's wool.

Demography and Population

A vast majority of the region's population, centered along the Aon River and the foothills of the Are and Du mountains, are Poulpiquet, with Kriores of the Gargantua Troupe also living in large numbers beneath the foothills

Territories

Rouzig is located in the Penn-ar-Bed, on the Western edge of The Armorican Peninsula. Part of Northwest Kernev, it occupies the estuary of the Aon River, where it flows into the Rade de Brest.

Geopolitical Borders

The Lordship of Crozon, located on its eponymous peninsula, takes up the entirety of Rouzig's Western land border, while Biskonti Glazig, its largest neighbor, makes up the Southern. The East is taken up by a small border with the Barony of Dardoup and a longer border with the Barony of Bidar. To the North, along the Rade de Brest, is the Barony of Kernevodez, with a small border with the Leoned Lordship of Chelgenn to the Northeast.

Terrain

Rouzig is located in the Kastellin Basin, between the Meneziou Are and the Meneziou Du, its elevation dropping as the Aon approaches its estuary. Surrounded by mountains and foothills, it is a rocky, steep region.

Foreign Relations

The Barons of Rouzig are commonly allied with the Lordsof Crozon, supplying food and supplies to the remote peninsula. Its foreign policy largely is restricted to the Rade de Brest, including Kernevodez, Biskonti Plougastell and the Lordship of Aginense in Biskonti Leon.   Rouzig maintains cordial, but limited, relations with the sovereignties of the Kastellin Basin, primarily the Barony of Dardoup
