Inquisitor Ilarik
Overview:
Inquisitor Ilarik is a highly feared and powerful member of the Witch-Hunters in Chernaya, notorious for his ruthless methods and formidable abilities. He is a relentless enforcer of the Crown’s will, particularly under the rule of GodKing Belgarion . Ilarik’s presence often signals an impending purge, as he is known for his ability to track down and eradicate witches, heretics, and rebels with unyielding precision.
Personality and Abilities:
- Cold and Calculating: Ilarik is methodical and detached, performing his duties with a chilling, emotionless efficiency. He is utterly merciless, instilling fear wherever he goes, and his reputation alone can cause entire villages to cower in terror.
- Mind Domination: One of Ilarik’s known abilities is his power to dominate minds. He can project his consciousness into others from afar. The full extent of these powers are not known. This was demonstrated when he used Serg Niall, the former games master at Jorik's Rest , to deliver a grim ultimatum. His ability to mentally manipulate others makes him an almost supernatural threat, capable of breaking even the strongest wills.
- Dream Magic: Orian figured out that he is a master of this Discipline, and uses it to affect much within the Kingdom without ever needing to leave his tower.
- Instrument of the Godking: Ilarik claims to serve the God-King Belgarion with unwavering loyalty, acting as one of the primary agents in the Crown’s efforts to purge the kingdom of dissent. The Purge he has implemented has been brutal and without mercy, making him a symbol of the Crown’s absolute power, as well as building up quite a lot of hostile sentiment within the populace. Fear keeps most of them in place, but for how long?
- Feared Throughout Chernaya: Inquisitor Ilarik’s name is synonymous with fear. Communities suspected of harboring witches, rebels, or heretics often find themselves targeted by him, and his methods leave little chance of survival for those he hunts. His role in the events at Krezko, where he mentally dominated an entire village and incited them to burn themselves alive, has only added to his terrifying reputation.
