Propogana Poster

These posters were hung up around Grenagem to celebrate their history of power and exploration. The poster was commisioned by Matilde Valente, The Chair of Image. Using the ministry of image's propaganda printing press, the government was able to print thousands of posters in one day to be hung up around every district in Grenagem. There were mixed reactions to the poster, but the government was not aware of the negative reactions.   The posters were printed with various colors of ink. Imagery or gears framed the poster demonstrating the advancements in machinery. At the bottom of the poster, a cluster of people standing mixed with laborers, explorers, merchants, and teachers formed and abstract pyramid shape. Male Laborers and merchants were towards the bottom and Female teachers and explorers were towards the top of the pyramid. Although the women were towards the top of the pyramid shape, the cluster appeared to showcase people from all occupations as one whole that made up grenagem. If one person was taken out, the pyramid or society would be unstable. Everyone served an important purpose to the empire no matter their social class. The pyramid of people was clearly pointing up towards a massive Airship that took up almost half of the poster. It was a reminder of their history of exploration, technological advancements, and power.

Purpose

The purpose of this poster is to convince citizens to be proud that they are apart of Grenagem socity.

Historical Details

Public Reaction

To the government officials it appeared that all citizens reacted positively to the posters. However, lower class people, mostly men, were not too fond of the posters. In the Lower Merchant Row , men would rip out the men depicted in the bottom of the poster because they didn't think society respected them. In one case, men brought the posters into Grade Publico and hung them up. They painted an "x" through the airship and drew on the faces of the women depicted on the poster.
