Logra
of the Four Ports of Ubara
Though there are no surviving records for the location, the citizens of Logra claim their town as the landing site for the Lakortha army that would sweep through the ancient Grafan people, ending in the Siege of Grafi It is a matter of pride for them and the implied connection to the Heartlands, even in these modern turbulent times.
When outsiders first see the town many mistakes it for three or four smaller villages in close proximity. This could technically be true and the boroughs of Logra could each stand on their own as independent villages, however, it would be a mistake to insinuate so to the native Lechish. To the Logra citizens they are one community divided only by ancient walls.
Every town and city on Aldern are built in layers of history. The years past, and new construction are built around older. Logra is one of the few that these layers of age can be seen so clearly. Though the town lore claims ancient Grafan dwelling at the site, the oldest known construction was a Lakortha walled town at the site. It, along with its sister city, Cathan, across Ubara's Arm, were meant to be fortified ferry ports for transport across the sea. Logra fell into disrepair and neglect overtime as the usefulness of crossing the Arm declined. A fire claimed most of the wooden buildings within the walled city. Though the ferry system remained in use throughout its life, the town shifted just inland focusing on farming the lands of the region. When Gold was discovered in the Whidel's Wall mountain range the town found new life. The new power in Novyum, the United Kingdoms of Novyum, revitalized the ferry system for transport of the gold, building a new fortress town south of the old. During this time the old ruins between the Novya walled town and the farming village was reoccupied as well. Finally, with the construction of Undermountain Pass and trade opening up through Whidel's Wall for the first time, a new port was built on the north side of the city's rocky coastland.
Like Cathan on the west side of Ubara's Arm, Logra is vital to the trade route between Slavyum, east of Whidel's Wall, and the Heartlands to the west. The Logan Family, that controls Logra, claim more coin comes into Lechlan through this trade network than comes out of the gold mines to the south. The city is also a major agricultural site for the nation producing an estimated one-third all food for Lechlan. This has made Logra and the Logan family extremely wealthy.
The city is considered one of the safest locations to live in Novyum. Whidel's Wall shelters Logra and its lands from the troubles in Slavyum, with Ubara's Arm and rest of Lechlan keeping the Novyum in the Heartlands faraway. The Logan's maintain a strong militia throughout their lands to keep bandits off the trade routes that are so vital. Their side of Undermountain Pass has a series of manned outposts and forts to maintain this peace.
