Siege of Grafi
Last Stand of the Ubara
The Siege of Grafi, fought in 4532sc, is considered by most historians as the last battle of the army of the Republic of Lakorth in their campaign to bring Ubara's Arm region under the control of the Heartlands. After the battle, Lakorth gain dominance in Ubara's Arm and with it the rich sea trade of the Aabanu Sea. Ubara's Arm has been considered part of the Heartlands of Novyum ever sense.
The siege took place where the town of Grafi now stands. The Grafan people had their last stand on Grafi island that is the heart of the modern town. At the time it was a fortress island sheltering a small bay. The siege lasted seven months, finally being won due to Lakortha engineers building a causeway to the island. The population was killed to the last man, woman, and child. The site was afterwards converted into a Lakortha military and naval base to defend Ubara's Arm and their holdings along the lands west of the Whidel's Wall mountain range.
The causeway built in the siege remains today as a connection from the mainland to the island. Its existence has permanently altered the once deep water bay the island sheltered into a shallow lagoon. that is known for its tranquil turquoise waters.
