Doyle

Cleric of the Wardens

Doyle grew up in the town of Coxcomb in a middling-class family. His father was a tax collector. He and his fellow warden Shaw where inseparable as children. They met in the regional court and grew up together exploring the streets of Coxcomb and having children's 'adventures' in the surrounding farmlands. She the daughter of the regional nobility, the two were betrothed by their families as a good political match when they reached the age of marriage. Instead, Doyle and Shaw ran away together. Always a devote Trijan, he joined the clergy, while Shaw used the coin she had stolen away from her family to attend Dover College to fulfill her dream to become a Wizard.

The two reunited, by chance, when they both joined a Corps to fight in the Novyum Civil War. In the old friends' eyes, they were on a true adventure for the first time, and once more an inseparable duo. They both ended up in Corps of the Oath and walked right into the disastrous campaign into the Plashin Range. Surviving the slaughter, they somehow found their way to the town of Oates where they recovered. There, hiding in the inn room alone for days, they decided to remain in the town, having had enough of true adventure. They even agreeing their parents may have been right, and they should have married and settled down. They would do so in this remote small town. Instead, they ran into the other survivors of their corps and would join them as they formed the Corps of Oates to defend to town from Plasha raiders. Later they renamed themselves Walker's Wardens.

Walker, the groups ranger, and Doyle worked well together, becoming co-leaders of the new group. They balanced each other will with Doyles structure focused attitude verse Walkers play it by ear drive. The Wardens thrived and went on many adventures throughout the Plashins and beyond. Doyle met Rose with the founding of the Wardens and fell in love, though she in a relationship with fellow warden, the Areian (Elf) Davlark. With Shaw falling in love and eventually marrying Walker, and Rose unrequited love, Doyle has a string of lovers over the yeras. He focused more on the adventuring groups success than settling down with a family. It was he that gathered the funds that purchase the old ruins that would become Walker Castle as a homebase for the team. Gifting it to Walker and Shaw on their wedding day.

Davlark betrayed Rose and abandoned the Wardens after the wedding, never to be seen again. A devastated Rose found comfort in the bed of Doyle, though she never returned the affection he felt for her. They two having an on-again off-again relationship over the remaining years of their adventuring.

In the years of their retirement, Doyle works as priest in the Oates' local congregation. Though he spends most of his time in town, he travels up to Walker Castle every few days to dine with Walker, Shaw, and their young daughter, or to train with any new members of the Wardens. No longer adventuring together, he and Rose, though living in the same town, have largely lost touch with each other. They see each other when dinning in the castle, and on occasion find comfort together on particularly nights, but they have lost that connection that once might have been. Doyle finds fulfillment in the spirit ail needs of Oates to fill his days and guiding young recruits of the Wardens.
