This particular Catu Samonii would be come to be known as the Obsidian Wars, due to the Solea expansion into Kargast coinciding with a disproportionate amount of retainers from Threatening Valley being hired or aligned, as well as the debate over Hithwenia Covera's victory in which most of Threatening Valley's population and the Locii population of Eskern stood up to the previous winners, the Loar and Heno peoples. Much was being fought over - a Sinnox victory would mean full expansion into Kargast, and Hithwenia was the only hope to prevent that. However, many from Threatening Valley believed that innovation to the area would benefit them, particularly the Vespulans, and so there was much at stake.

Hithwenia Covera is from Karkebi, who is not permitted to compete as a Camula. However, she married a Locii in Eskern in order to gain citizenship, someone who was on their last Oak and Laurel cycle and was basically a walking corpse. Thus, she caused a huge uproar by muscling herself into what was meant to be a Sinnox-centric tournament. She gained support from other rivals of the status quo and her decision to hire mercenaries from Threatening Valley to stand up to Danno would cause a chain reaction.

Lalaba Loiren

Lalaba is a Sinnox combat magician from the Loar people who known for her nullifying and dispelling abilities. She is from the wealthy and notable Loiren family, a powerful Loar clan of Sinnox who were originally tributes of the Heno and gained an equal footing through Loiren's victory. She spent a lot of time in the wilds of Sealtland and Meldland, neutralizing Godsibbs. She would later mentor Marlene Mehnot in anti-Godsibb warfare. Her team was recruited from throughout the Sinnox occupied territories and she is known for working with dangerous beings seemingly without issue.

Danno Solea

Danno is an Eremos noble, a culture of Sinnox who live on the outskirts of Sealtland and Meldland and interact with the more primitive evolutions of the Coriniaid. Even though they are under Heno rule for the most part, they are still perceived as somewhat threatening due to their knowledge of the wilderness. Danno is looking to overtake Meld's Mouth in a bitter territory/trade war with the Glendatis, and his occupation of the Gloynbyw Coalfields to the North is seen as a means to an end.

His real name is not Danno, he took on that name after becoming infamous for reliance on prison labour and his frequent victories over seemingly more vicious foes such as the Sulyafuj and Herdstalker. He was able to find support from some mercenaries around Threatening Valley, but the majority of his troops are loyal veterans of his army who followed him to Kargast from Seatland and Meldland.

Alline Tinjoue

Alline is a princess and athletic champion from the Heno-occupied Loumiere settlements in East Eskern and Sealtland. Due to her otherworldly aura, even among the peoples of East Eskern, her style is often more focused than her skills. She is famous (or infamous?) for an incident where her opponent, a Herdstalker, passed away during their match, leading to her winning the championship but also by law, being responsible for the Herdstalker's funeral.
Her team consists mainly of outcasts from various Kubeleya settlements, often fugitives or aggressive soldiers who lost the trust of their retainers. Some believe she has them under a spell, but they are loyal to Alline only because it suits them and she kills deserters.

Anemonia Ostrale

Anemonia is from the ruling family who control Sinnox territories, residing in Heno Province of Caer Sidi as the Master of Soldiers. One of her sisters is the Empress, but many wonder if she'll go against her family's wishes if she wins, and this makes her open to sabotage from within. Anemonia competed again nine years later, though not as a Camula, and retired after that. Despite her position, her team was mostly chosen for her due to court politics and interference from her family members. Her Silicon Sickness allowed her to overcome Lalaba's lead mind-filtering, defeating her in an upset. Ultimately though Anemonia was sabotaged indeed, and her true politics and intentions remain a mystery.

Arthun is from the Heno-occupied part of Meld's Mouth, and her tribe, who are scattered around the area and often targeted by Galeodes and Herdstalkers, was given citizenship contingent on her alliance with the Sinnox tribes.

Onnen Hen
Onnen Hen is a Deii who Danno hired conduct studies on Obsidian in Meldland and run tests on Stormglass and Polonium. She is one of Danno's few allies in terms of teams in Catu Samonii, and is testing to see if alternative energies can help the Deii return to their migration patterns and leave the fog, but unfortunately her studies are built on the bodies of her own people.

Morgause Mehnot

Morgause is the head of the Mehnot family, a Heno clan who formed from permanant military residents throughout the Nine Villages, many settling along the border between Eskern and Sealtland. They are in an allyship with the Ostrale Dynasty that they will be granted governship and become a member of the Three Families if they win a Catu Samonii. Morgause is somewhat of a political tool and 'back up' if Lalaba or Anemonie don't win, and it has put her in a position where she must find unconventional ways to grow a base for her family so they don't get forgotten. She is Marlene's mother and as one of many High Court members, boasts a wealth of youthful talent to select from for her team.

Cinnorix Galeodii
Cinnorix is a wildcard, someone who has pressured the Sinnox communities despite remaining, on the surface, a loyal client-king within Sealtland. The Galeodii are as brutal as their rivals, the Herdstalkers, and some mercenaries and former captives have joined the compete, tenuous alliances bent on possibly overthrowing the Heno.
