Marlene Mehnot

Marlene is a Heno governor and military leader from the Mehnot Dynasty, a powerful family in the rise of the Heno Empire. She is from Eskern, and trained in the army as an anti-godsibb fighter, with the Eskern forest being the perfect training ground. She was credited with neutralizing one of the Four Queens, Asherah-Ichna alongside her mentor Lalaba, before she was even old enough to be initiated. She has broken multiple records in her field and is one of the earliest well-recorded Domina Animalium.

Put simply, Marlene seems to pull it all together on the surface and is seen by some as hyperfocused on her work, charismatic and measured but a bit unfriendly and closed off. Only the Vespula seem to match her searing intensity, and so she was just glad "one of them" was betrothed to her. Marlene and Rheis' marriage is purely political, but Marlene excels at neutralizing emotional and erratic creatures so the match is a promising one. They both are career-oriented, interested in warfare and politics, and expect a lot from their children.

Whilst Marlene remains a model warrior and general, she is one of the earliest-documented cases of Silicon Sickness. With little awareness of this disorder at the time, Marlene masked it as well as she could. However, her migraines become more noticeable with age, which is a mark of insecurity for her. It is possible this is why she held such a sympathetic view of Wendy and helped her as much as she did, though Marlene always did what she thought was best before thinking of others.

Marlene is a once-in-a-generation talent and a skilled military leader, especially when combined with the feedback of her well-counselled family who are also military leaders in their own right. As Governor of Eskern and Bone King, she has some of the most influence in the Heno occupied territories, as well as a daughter married into the Australis family. Though she is not the most sociable, Marlene is admired by many for her discipline, flawless demeanor, and fair and practical decisions. She would have more at her disposal if her husband Rheis' funds weren't tied up in drama with his brothers, but she still possesses generational wealth which aids her team's performance and maintenance.
