Eventful Autumn Equinox

Note: The margins of this are absolutely filled with text, all of it in the same Sylvan cypher she usually uses for her personal notes. There are also several pages of long-form prose preceding this entry. (She recorded the dream as thoroughly as she could.) The penmanship on this page betrays a scattered approach to writing⁠—not Zin’s normal style.

I woke up crying blood today.

Sometime during my trance, I fell into genuine sleep again. This time it wasn’t just a dream, though… I don’t know if it was divine interference or Feywild magic, but the missing slice of my memory between walking toward the Tree in the Feywild with Rue and then opening my eyes in the grove, learning I was resurrected… that time has been returned to me.

And not just to me. Duraz and Roscoe both seemed to know parts of the events in flawless detail. (As did Seksgar later, when the forest deigned appropriate for him to reappear.) They didn’t all see and hear the exact same things, and it appears that each of them got a unique twist to the experience.

Duraz talked about encountering Kovac in his dream, and he talked about avenging the felled god. Tajna betrayed him, so this is too much to be coincidence.
Roscoe was weird about whatever happened to him in the dream, but he seemed shaken. He also pissed me right the fuck off by saying I ‘let Keenor die.’
Seksgar was cold when he reappeared. Frosty and frozen. Something weird happened there, and when he’s had time to digest it, I hope he tells us.

I will say, as full of suck as this all is, it seems having to witness what happened in the Feywild and on the mountain between me and Tajna affected them all. Each in their own highly idiosyncratic ways went beyond my expectations to just… support me. Comfort me. Remind me that Tajna is, by definition, a lying sack of shit.

Potential Prophecy

I hate prophecies. They’re a sack of nothing until something happens and we all have the chance to go back and project meaning on them. For example, the “half a man” thing could be anyone who is half human, or Roscoe because he’s a halfling, or even another member of the party, based on recent insight into parentage. Or the “love without blood” part could literally be twisted to mean anything⁠—I’m not even convinced it’s romantic love.

All we know is this prophecy, which we are trusting Roscoe remembered properly. It apparently was in Hilde’s voice, which is also creepy. Roscoe seemed unnerved by it.

The Day’s Travel

With just three of us (Seksgar, Tara and I), travel was swift. Seksgar worried us both by trampling through some mushrooms and releasing spores he breathed, but after fussing over it for a few minutes, nothing seems to have happened. That’s sketchy for this forest, but we moved on. We happened upon a spring about halfway into the travel day, and while I was reticent to drink from it, we needed water. I asked Keenor if it looked like a ‘bad one,’ and the delightful little asshole looked mischievous and said it was fine. He then drank from it and let out a 15-second arpeggio to declare, “Reeeeegal.” We all drank, and so the remainder of our day became a D-list musical stage performance.

At some point, I noticed that Seksgar’s badge from Waterdeep had disappeared, and I had to explain to him that once that thing is away from you for a short period… it’s just gone. I would know, since I haven’t had mine since days after we got it. Near the end of the day, we found another grove of trees that would be perfect for leaf surfing, so I taught them how to do it. I tried to partake but… it went badly. Both feet are necessary to successfully leaf surf.

We eventually set up camp behind a waterfall, in a cave partway up a cliff. (Seksgar might be part goat, because he bounded up there with both Tara and I over his shoulders.) That night, inspired by the dreams we all had apparently had and the increased talk of the gods, Tara helped me set a backdrop for an inspired musical projection show about the pantheon and history. I can’t be sure, but I think I felt an intense amusement from Oghma due to the fact that I had to sing the entire thing.

The night has been mostly uneventful, though we continued to experience magic effects. Seksgar briefly turned into a potted plant, and I triggered a ridiculous amount of fog. It seems related to this waterfall, but it’s hard to say.
