Someday we will get through a night without... nonsense.
The Rest of the First Night
My trance was constantly interrupted by all kinds of activity. Some pixies and fairies approached our shelter during the night, which makes sense, because I am pretty sure it crackles with blue force energy, so it isn't exactly subtle. I think I heard the pixie introduce herself as Duana, but, again, I was trying to rest. There is some kind of inane friction between the purple pixies and the green fairies that I was not conscious enough to really sink my teeth into. (I think there was a fairy named Shup?) Other stupid shit that happened:
The fairy lied really badly about the pixies taking a wand from her.
Roscoe gave the cluster of fey-like creatures alcohol and it resulted in a fight of some kind.
Duraz ranted for a long time about the rules of watch. (Can't say I disagree.)
These fucking pixies and fairies seem to know people's names.
Fern then also talked with Duana and it sounded like they... had a tea party.
Morning of 25 Navara
If none of that was enough, we then awoke to a force energy sphere shoving us out of the shelter. Well, most of us; it had Duraz inside. I think I've seen this spell cast before, to contain a minor necromancer. It did fade after about a minute, but in that time Blackthorne hit it with his rapier (funny to watch) and this enticed Seksgar to hit it (more problematic) and also Duraz tried to dig out of it (?). When the force magic dispersed, Duraz struck something beneath the ground and there was a sound of pain.
From the ground emerged a large, phoenix-like bird surrounded by lightning. I've never seen a lightning-imbued creature before; it had the ability to arc lightning through multiple people, and I suspect if Fern hadn't blinded it to confuse it temporarily, we would have had a bad time of it. Thankfully we escaped.
Noted Effects in the Forest
This forest is unpredictable and I am not sure we are going to survive this trek. Today we observed additional wild magic effects:
Roscoe glowed for an hour or so, and anyone who looked directly at him was temporarily blinded.
All of our water just disappeared.
Duana (the pixie) told us that certain individuals that share magical properties with certain areas of the forest will trigger effects at random.
There is some weird fuckery going on with the mirror-like crystals. Seksgar and Blackthorne were convinced that they saw people (himself and Kumrag, Myri, respectively) in the crystals, and it was like the crystals wanted them to touch them. I spent a lot of time staring at the ground.
I felt that hair-raising feeling of being watched throughout much of the mirror-like crystals, and I am not sure if that is related to the above visions or something else. I hated it.
At the next night's watch, it sounded like Seksgar and Blackthorne might have been hearing voices? This is my conjecture based on their weird ass conversation during watch.
Weather here doesn't make a lot of sense. At the end of the day, it was both warm and cold? Everything is unpredictable.
Other Info
Duana seemed to want to help us, but also she really didn't sound like she knew what "path" meant.
Blackthorne sent Duana away, which is fine, because fey can be tricky, but his reasoning was that she reminded him of sirens that took advantage of his crew in the past.
Margin notes in Sylvan and a cypher, for Rue
Someone outside this weird group needs to know that Blackthorne has started trying to orchestrate group pee breaks, and he also wants me to find a hot spring to help us "bond over a nice bath." This man is insane.
Trying to make any of these people hold on to a piece of the plane is hilarious and frustrating. They might as well be blobs of jelly for all the help they are in keeping hold of things.
Okay... I'll admit that Blackthorne has been incredibly valuable so far with navigation and path finding. I will never tell him this, though. His ego would kill us all.
Roscoe keeps fishing for me to talk to him, and I think it's about you. What the hell is he fishing for? Did Myri tell him something I don't know about?
