3rd Qindirsday of the High Summer, Second Age 1855: The Sunlit bridge was less moving platforms that I imagined, and more an arcane energy flowing through the arena of pillars rising from a pool of water, solid enough to travel on. With the help of Aranesi's channeling wand, I was able to hijack the arcane lines and ride them around the arena, completely ignoring any and all athletic challenges. This definitely brought some attention as clearly the summer elves have never seen anyone wrest control of their preset route and redirect it at will. Luck was definitely with us as all the summer elf contenders started falling off the platforms one by one through a set of unlucky circumstances. Even the wizard considered to be the favorite to win, lost control of the arcane line and fell, dragging another one down with him. Malakar finished the course first, though he didn't gather all the flags, while Aelorna and I arrived at the end second and third. I may have taken the third place due to combination of time and being less interested in showing off to the crowd, but all that mattered to me was glory of the house Nytraven which was already ensured with only us three remaining in the race.
The Solstice disputation went well, though some of the more complex arcane terminology escaped me in the moment, Aranesi would have done much better but I hope I still honored her memory. The gathered summer elves seemed intrigued in how I was able to redirect the flow of arcane energies on the fly, but I had to remain careful in my explanations so as not to enable them to copy the design. Still, the summer elf audience was impressed by the execution of the craft itself and had several good suggestions towards improving on the design. I should find time to try and apply them before we attempt another vortex channeling. Perhaps I can turn it into something usable in combat, it could aid us even further in our endeavors.
Later Aelorna took the stage to debate the validity of the Summer Speaker's plan. She took the Speaker's position and brought up a few compelling points. When she spoke how elven souls can inhabit an aiuvarin body so any loss of true elves in the world is only going to be temporary, while the population recovers its numbers through mixing with humans. It was a compelling theory and not completely without merit, but if the Summer Speaker wants to preserve the cultural heritage of his people, he will have a much more difficult job ahead of him - ensuring the humans don't replace elven culture with their own once they arrive in sufficient enough numbers.
I didn't have high hopes for the tournament of the golden mark, seeing as archery is integral to the summer elf culture, and yet I performed quite well, taking third place in the overall contest and an underdog archer, clearly blessed by Mirae, scored well past the next best shot for an unexpected victory.
With one day left in the summer holiday, we are gathering to depart for the mausoleum, though the Summer Speaker warned us about elven souls who may still be lingering around there and could be a threat if we don't tread carefully. I wonder if we will find any signs of one of Luthais' brothers there, the one who was cursed to undeath by Leowyn
